You don't even have to exercise, exercise though will make weight loss happen quicker and make you healthier. Consistent exercise would straighten out alot of your blood issues as well as figuring out a good diet. You are what you eat son!
I definitely don't count calories. I was in a weight lost challenge at work a couple years ago and lost 20 lbs in 3 months and won $300. Even then, I didn't count calories, just did cardio like run or bike and eat less. I was 145, the lowest I've been since highschool. The weight came back quick and stayed at 160 no matter what I eat or how much. I did p90x last year and my blood work came out really good. Was going to start p90x again last month but always busy and less motivation.

You just proved my point with the calories. You gain the weight right back, only way to change it is change the way you eat. I figured out my daily calorie intake and counted calories for a few weeks. Now I basically know what portion size of food (yes I weigh my food) I need to reach my calorie total. Its simple, so do not say your body needs to be at x weight or whatever because that is not true. Everyone can control weight with their calorie intake, just most people are too lazy or ignorant to figure it out. Its really not that hard once you get used to doing it. Just my .02

Oh and losing 20 lbs in 3 months is unhealthy. Weight loss should be a gradual process as well as weight gain. Like a pound or 2 a week at maximum.

I stuck with the asian food groups, and had sushi for lunch. It was awesome.
