Nate, a big guy like you (no homo) might have issues with a miata and tracking. They are cheap cars but there are trade-offs on both ends. YOu don't need to go full retard on the EVO just yet, still plenty of low hanging fruit to grab there...

Pete, I fully support a 996 turbo but for $35k and under.

Nate, Miata is a stupid idea. And stop thinking you need to mod the Evo beyond what you have. If you want it to do something different then you're better off getting a different car. No sense in trying to make it something it's not.

not trying to turn it into somethings its not. i really wanna just commit it to full track car, weld in a cage/gut it and slowly build up the power....but i cant convince myself to do it. loooove tracking it and have no intentions of stopping, but i also have a tough time chopping up a somewhat clean/low mileage car.

I thought of turning the Evo into a track prepped car but I'm going to keep it as is and sell it as a street car much easier when the time comes. If I ever do a track car it would be something worth less than $20k and if its more than $20k, it would be something like a 911 or e92 m3 that had an accident or flood damage and worthy of stripping.

I'd love to do this down the road as well.

I haven't really looked into it yet, but I'll be building my motor over the weekend. Now the question is - stay 2.0, go long rod 2.0, 2.1, or 2.3?! If there are already threads, point me in the right direction!

I've read that thread before; such an intense build!

I'm not sure my pockets are deep enough for that - I don't have an unlimited budget. I'm going to try and build the motor, upgrade the turbo, and go E85 this winter. There are a few other smaller issues I'd like to address, but those are my main points for the winter. Going to build the car to be real competitive in TT3.
