cam selection

Hello, I am new to the evo family and hope maybe a few of you could take the time to share your wisdom. I have done the basic upgrades TBE an intake and a dynoflash. I am looking to install some cams but am not sure weather to go with 264/272 or 272/272 for cruzing the streets and maybe a little 1/4 mile time. please let me know how your cams are woking for you and what kind of power I might expect. thanks in advance for your comments.

264's are fine w/ the stock turbo. Not much will be gained by going to a longer duration.

I'll hop on this one....I've seen the good, bad, and ugly in these forums on this subject and haven't been able to get the right information to decide myself. So I haven't moved on anything yet. However, one thing I might suggest (and this is experience with my 2g) make sure you know where you want to end up with the car...because you may find yourself spending more money later on the same stuff (cams, injectors, etc) only because you went to a bigger turbo down the road. Planning can pay off big time!

Joey hit it on the mark. Careful planning on matching parts to each other will make a big difference in the end.

I'd say go for the 272/272 setup, and get reflashed. It should run just fine w/ the stock turbo. And later down the road if you want a bigger turbo, you won't have to spend more money on cams again.

Right Jo, I just did that due to different turbo and AEM

I'd say 272 or 264 you wont notice much of difference between them. so either way will be fine.
I had my Tomei Procams and was very happy with themk. They are between 264 and 272s. and idled just like stock, which is nice so Mitsu doesnt know for waranty issues. Anyways Choice is yours

its a admirable question, as i am very interested in what everyone is running as well, and if they are happy with them or not. i have been doing my fair share of cam research.
