I really think I'm just going to stuck it under the hood, facing down at the headlights. I don't want to be able to see the individual cheap led strips. Should look pretty neat at night I hope! Will also wire them to parking light, as I want the option to drive black out if need be.

Page 5 post #69 is side firing on top of headlight. I don't think it looks cheap.

That would look unique and stock with all the different led headlight options manufatures are putting out these days.

It will just look like a nice long line of bright white light running a long the top.

I tried googling side firing leds, but I don't know what's the difference between that and a regular led strip. Can you take some better pictures?

Basically they stick on like a normal LED strip, except the light shines out the side instead of straight ahead.

Ahh I see, that makes sense. I still don't want people to be able to see the individual led bulbs though.. I think I'm going to get some chopsticks and try to mount the led strips inside the headlights first before deciding on the next plan of action.

Actually thinking about another way to mount that.. Would be to attach the LED strip to a flat piece of wire bent to the contours of what you want in the headlight and then slip the whole thing in through the headlight's side marker hole.

I'll have to take a closer look at the headlight housing to see how best to secure it once in there.

I just found out the led strips I have laying around are actually side firing, lol. After messing around with the strip and putting it in different positions, I realized that you don't need the led strip inside to get the factory LED strip look I was going for. The top part of our headlight is shaped like a prism. If you direct your light source from the top, down into the headlight, you will see the individual LEDs through the actual headlight housing. It's pretty freaking cool!

You can see the led bulb a bit, because I had the strip laying flat on top of the headlight since I didn't want to rip off the adhesive yet, but it will be pointed downwards when it's done.

I just wish the strips weren't as blue. I like white leds.

Wes,
I think you just came up with the Best solution!

I have a roll of front firing white LED strip that I've been wanting to use, but hesitated on the thought of dismantling the headlight, NOW that I don't have to... I'm going to test Your method out as soon as I get home tonight!!

I'm waiting for my engine bay to cool off before I stick my hand in there again. I'm going to try to wire it to the parking marker harness.

That looks awesome. That distorted glass piece always looked to me like it should have had an LED strip in it from the get go.. Anyone have any recommendations on where to get the side emitting LED strips? I have to try that.

Edit: I did check out http://www.oznium.com/side-emitting-led-strip. Never bought from them before, and the reviews seem to be hit or miss. Any other suggestions?

I used the same thing with my headlights and they look awesome. I set them up to be DRL.

I would post pics but I am having trouble posting pics right now. I have a picture posted in an earlier post with the lights on though.
