Economic. If you're going to bash, have some pride in it.

*BUMP*

I talked with Steve again, and ironed out the measurements. He's going to drill the holes and send it out to me ASAP.

Also, in responce to those pictures just posted. We are going for something that looks exactly like that when mounting. It won't be constructed the same way to keep costs down. We'll see in a bit when he gets the panel to me and I take some pictures.

If you can get 60mm ones, I'm down.

I skimmed the thread, so far it looks like 52mm versions only...

Yes it is, and that's the look we are going for, only not with a full CNC machined piece of aluminum. I can't imagine how much that plate cost in materials and machine time. The point of this panel will be the same look, rigidity, and low cost.

60mm is not possible. The DIN is only 54mm tall, so unless you can get 60mm oval gauges, they aren't going to fit and the CH panel is your only option.

Shows what not paying attention to the forum for a weekend can do. Here's what's going on. I had to double check the measurements for the mounting tabs again, and luckily I did because I screwed up the first time. Now they are dead on (as much as they can be with a ruler, wish I had access to a micrometer). Steve is going to be drilling up the holes on the pre-prototype tabs very soon and sending them to me. I'll mount them as soon as I get them and make sure they fit. While this is taking place he will draft up a final plan for the panel and have the machine shop whip up a prototype. He'll send it to me, I'll install it, tell him adjustments if necessary, and then the shop will make a batch. There's the down low on what's going on.

alex_alex, I put you on the list.

Here is the latest from Steve:
The shop seems to be managing to drag their feet quite badly on the quote at this point in time. I believe that I will get the quote today or tomorrow, but I can't be completely sure. I will contact them again today to try to get that quote out of them. Once we confirm the form and fit of the parts things will move pretty quickly from there. So a little patience from everyone that is interested and we'll soon be on our way with these parts.

I will have those test tabs for you early next week (Monday) as I ran into problems on that and I may have to re-form them to match your new measurements.

Thanks!

Steve
