Update:
Jason,

The main machine shop I use is being a pain about the prototypes. I'm going to court another shop I can work with and see if they'll be better when doing the protos. I'm keeping on it as best as i can at this point. But there it is a lot of work... I will keep you updated.

Thanks,

Steve

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. I'll be out of town from today till the 1st and I'm not sure if I'll be able to update this thread. I'll try my best, but I'm not promising anything.

Yeah, me too. I'm back from vacation and got word today from Steve. Things aren't looking very positive right now, but hopefully things will work themselves out and we'll get an early christmas present. Here's what Steve said:
Jason,

I'm having a little trouble getting responses back from the other shops which certainly isn't good... There is the possibility that we may go for it at risk and skip the proto stage and pray that everything comes out well. The proto cost basically doubled... that is what the delay is. Unless someones wants to pay nearly 400 for the first single plate... then we'd be good to go! But we are still working on it. I'm really sorry that it is such a huge ordeal, but this is the first time the machine shop has put us through such a wringer before.

Thanks!

Steve

More news from Steve, looks like I'll be getting the prototype by the end of the month. Hopefully sooner.
Good news. Found another shop, finally got a quote back and the pricing is reasonable. Looks like we can move forward. I'll pop out a prototype as fast as I can from them and we'll go from there. Additionally, we are working on thermal insulating gaskets to give Lancer's a performance boost as well. It's a common aftermarket part for a lot of cars, and has been around for ages... so we figured you guys deserved those too.. and we have developing them down to a science so not hard for us to produce them. So staytuned for those, and I'll get this proto rolling as fast as I can.

Thanks!

Steve

Bump. Looks like we may be getting this just in time for Christmas. That may be a bit on the optimistic side, but no biggie. Here is the latest from Steve:

Jason,

The shop is released to do the proto. So as soon as we get that in I'll let you know and take some pictures, and then ship it to you. I hope it'll happen in a reasonable period of time, but this shop is a smaller one and it's a little more "relaxed" so it's hard to tell the what and when. I'll keep you guys updated. Just hang in there with us! The good news is I may get to offer a bit of a cost break.

Thanks,

Steve

Damn, it's been a while since I've updated this post. Steve just got back to me and stated the prototype has been completed and he's going to send it priority mail by the end of the week. I should have it in hand right after the weekend. I'll install it and take pictures and get them on here ASAP. I'm going to PM everyone on the list to ensure everyone knows the pictures are up and to confirm purchases.

Since it's been a while since this thread was started, I'd like everyone who's interested to shout back with a PM or on this thread. Thanks.

Aight, here's what Steve had to say.

Proto looks very nice and is VERY sturdy. I"ll fit a gauge into it, and send you some pictures and get them on our website by about 8:00 eastern time tonight. I'll ship the part out to you tomorrow. And it MAY get there by Friday or Saturday yet . Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all!!

Also, what finish do you want on it? I'm going to do some finish work on it as the proto is raw metal. Painted or polished?

Thanks and let me know.

Steve

Painted. Black please. Or, a gray color matched to the panel around it would look pretty slick i think

Ok guys, here are pictures of the panel. This are unpainted, and unfinished. The panel he is sending me are going to be painted black. I think in the end I'll have a paint shop color match it to either the interior, or the silverish dash piece by the hazard light button.

Looks great! I purchased a blank panel to go in that din and was just planning on cutting out the holes myself but if this ends up in a reasonable price range then this would probably be a lot more sturdy. I would be seriously interested for the right price!

Steve can do two holes as well. Initial run will be the 3 holes. Runs have to be done in batches. So that is the only limit.

Steve said price will definitely be sub 70.
