Did some work this weekend. I've been holding off putting the radiator back in until I welded on some mounting brackets for my front splitter down under the radiator support area of the chassis. I finally finished that and the radiator is back in place, with coolant! So the car is ready to drive again. Should be logging miles this week using it for the work commute.

Here are the brackets that will be used to mount the splitter. No more mounting to the bumper. I've actually got everything welded in-place on the chassis now, I'll upload those later.

Here's a mock-up of the new mounted position. It sticks out a lot more, and is angled down instead of pointing up like when it's mounted to the bumper.

I'm adding a bunch of reinforcement to the bottom of the splitter to help it carry load better, as well as making a cut-out for the dump-tube to shoot through. I'll add pics of that later as well.

After that I need to weld on a tow-hook to stick through the bumper and finish my new brake ducting setup and that should complete all the work at the front bumper.

So I got home tonight all ready to start the car again. I just needed to hook-up the battery, put on the bumper cover and lower it off the jack stands...

So when I went to fit the jack under the car what did I find... a HUGE puddle of coolant - are you F'ing kidding me! This is what I JUST fixed. After a few curse words and a closer look I realized I hadn't put the clamp on the engine side of the upper radiator hose. The hose was connected but it drained out all over the place.

So the car is running again. Hopefully tomorrow everything will check-out as OK, took it for some gas tonight without issue. Crossing my fingers for zero drips of coolant on the floor in the morning.

Here are the mounts for the splitter welded unto the chassis and painted.

Yeah - tell that to my wife, I'm not sure she feels the awesomeness of the time I've spent in the garage! But she did marry an engineer, we come with a warning label.

Awesome job on your build. I just finished building my turbo ecotec sandrail motor, which is the first time I ever built any sort of motor, and the sense of accomplishment when it actually runs is huge. Your making me want to make my evo fast, lol.

Hey what is this thing doing out of the garage!

So far so good. I'll have 500 miles on the engine by this weekend and it will be ready for another oil change. No leaks, and no oil consumption.

I installed a JDM MAP sensor during the down time and that seems to be working well and says I'm rocking about 6.8 psi of boost running off the wastegate spring.

On my drive to work, which is about 50 miles each way, I pull off at 3 off ramps so I can make pulls up the on-ramps. I'm revving the engine to about 5000-5500 RPM. I pop through 1st and 2nd, then let the RPM's go down so that 3rd is started at 2500 - like a tuning pull that ends at 5500.

I also hate dump tubes. The exhaust gets in the cabin. I'm hoping that with the underpannels installed it won't be as bad - I don't know what everyone does that runs these things. Maybe they just like slowing dying from fumes. People who do this on stock turbos are crazy. I might just route the dump back into the O2 housing.

Hollur, it seems like the doing work never ends

List for this weekend:

- Build heat shield for cam sensor and upper radiator hose
- Mount catch can
- Finish splitter reinforcement
- Finish splitter mounting
- Build front tow-hook and weld onto chassis, cut front bumper for tow hook clearance
- Change oil

Still on the list to complete before first track day of the year on March 14th:

- Brake ducting caliper nozzles
- Finish the harness bar I started last year
- Tune at high boost

Still on the list after first track day:

Got a few things done so far. Luckily I've got a 3 day weekend FTW! So I still have a day to finish the tow hook and splitter mounting and keep on schedule.

Reinforcement plates for the splitter

Start of the tow hook

Heat shield

Catch Can mounted off the strut bar
