I made a couple partial pulls heading home yesterday and things looked good. I then made a couple complete 3rd gear pulls coming into work today and the car is pulling smooth. The AFR's are a little more than .5 points rich right now. I've found this to be typical for the first tank of e85 as there is always about a gallon or so of pump gas at the bottom of the tank. So Data Log Labs graphs show 454 whp and 417 ft-lbs which is down about 10 whp due to the drop in AFR's. I should be able to fill the tank again by Friday and get the AFR's back to normal. Then it will be ready for some dyno love.

Man, hands down the best build thread ever. Got me up 2-3am the other day reviewing the whole thread.

You taking apart the clutch and motor is like taking apart the airbox for me. Btw, when you took apart the tranny to see where the coolant is leaking, did you replace the TOB? I'm probably going to take mine off soon again because just put a new one in there and its slipping badly.

Thanks man, I try and keep it interesting for guys to follow what's going on, and point out what I've learned. I had done the clutch at the time of the motor and used a new TOB then. So it just went back in.

Packing the car now to load on the trailer and head to Portland directly after work tomorrow. I'm stoked for the first track day of the year.

Hey jid2,

I just went under my car, it seems that my tob sits a lil distance away from my pressure plate. Would this be the reason that is causing all the slippage?

Here is a little picture on post 18

I dont know what would cause this?

Fresh from the Dyno. Blue line is the tune I came in with, basically what I ran last year via street tuning. Red line is after a total of 4 pulls just to adjust the timing and smooth it out.

Word, Thanks to JohnBradley (Aaron) for the good times! Dyno's get it done, I couldn't really see the areas that needing timing with street pulls, but it was crystal clear where we needed it on the dyno.

final 496whp 455 ft-lbs

The car ran super wicked awesome at the track and I couldn't have asked for a nicer day - sunny and 70 degrees. Northwest weather for the win on this one. I feel sorry for everyone still dealing with snow.

Between the changes to the spring rates and the addition of the rear wing and diffuser the car felt much better than it did last year. This was my first time running PIR in the dry so it was like learning the track all over again to a certain degree. With this being the first track day of the year and lots of changes I really just took things easy and had some fun.

I'll get some video up when I can.

Congrats on getting it all to work on the first outing! Looks like a very nice powerband for ripping around the track too.

^^^Yeah I'm really happy with the current state of the car. Between the aero additions to the rear and the spring rate change it's much more stable to drive now.

Here is some video from the roof of the car, 2 of the 4 or so clean laps I got all day. The sound is crap and the exposure kinda blown out, but this was my first time using the camera like this. Speeds on the front and back straight are 135 mph.

A guy got some really nice photos at the track as well, his gallery is here.

I did a couple little things to the car over the past few weeks. First thing was routing a drain tube from my catch can into the dip stick. I was having to empty it often, turns out adding a breather to the other side of the valve cover short circuits the baffling and makes for more oil getting out on that side. So I welded a return into the dipstick, tested it and everything seems to work nicely.

I also designed a new shift knob. I wanted something a little taller, and I looked around and didn't see anything taller with the shape I wanted. AMS and some others make a bar shape, but I wanted to retain the ball end, like a factory knob. There are ergonomic benefits to the ball end shape, as it allows for greater flexibility in terms of hand placement/position/grip. It allows for underhand, overhand and any variation in between.

Here's an ABS rapid prototype of the knob off the Dimension 3D FDM printer at work. I'll have a Delrin part in a few weeks. Going to try it out at the track this Thursday.

Just found this thread. No words really to describe how bad *** it is. I read all 1032 posts in the past 6 hours. SOOO BAD ***.

I will be sticking a built motor in my IX in the next couple of months since I blew my stocker. This thread is riddled with great ideas and plenty of innovation.

Thanks for your contribution to the online community!

^^^^ Thanks, I try to make the thread helpful to others.

Looks like we will have a handful of local EVO guys at the track tomorrow, it should be a good time. Somewhere between 6 to 8, if 8 show that's 10% of the 80 car field.
