Valve cover is doing great - no signs of flaking or discoloration from heat.

The ACT clutch is also doing great. It works for me and how I drive the car. I didn't want a super aggressive engagement race type clutch. They are too hard on the drivetrain. And I have never experienced any of this "lock-out" business people have talked about. I think those have been install/driver errors anyway.

If you look around people have problem with just about every aftermarket clutch. Exedy has problems with the bearing clip, and people always have to pull trannies and fix a $5 part - then switch to a totally different system. I've had lots of friends with those clutches and they had nothing but issues. SPEC, although super baller, seems to have engagement issues as well. And those clutches cost 3-4x more than ACT. Hydraulic throw-out bearings are cool though!

A really nice build, I especially like all the custom aero. I got to get down to business with my own build. What are you planning
to do with the stock wheels? Also, I notice your using Solidworks and taking temperature readings off the brakes using a thermocouple,
between that and the Mitutoyo instruments I would venture to say your a Mechanical Engineer like me.

^^^^ Stock wheels are long gone to local guy. ME, yes.

I ordered the foam core for the GT wing from flyingfoam.com today. I had considered cutting the core myself. But my plasma cut templates are a little too rough, and I want the airfoil to be smooth. So CNC cut cores FTW. It cost $95 shipped to get a 72" x12" core, which is fair in my eyes.

Some photos of their machines.

So you wrap the carbon fibre around the foam? That is cool!

You da man!

Yeah, the foam goes around an aluminum frame structure - creating the basic airfoil surface with a load bearing frame. Then you wrap a couple layers of resin soaked carbon around it, stick it in a vacuum bag and let it cure.

These are photos from another persons project, but they are cool...

Over the last few weeks I've pulled my car out of the garage a few times to get the lawnmower out. Then when I pull it back in the garage smells like gas for a couple days. I pulled the tank access covers off in the rear seat area and it smells BAD like gas. So it looks like I have some sort of gas leak in that area, most likely only under pressure. It's not bad enough to make for a visible leak on the ground, but it smells.

Add that to my to-do list.

Did a little work on the rear wing mounts. I'll snap some pictures when I've made enough progress to actually show.

I also ordered some "new" race tires. Got some scrubbed Toyo R888's fresh from the Petit LeMans race at Road Atlanta, 265/35/18. Same size as the BFG R1's i have right now, but I think they will actually be a little narrower, as the BFG's are more like 275's.

really nice build....very focused track car. checked out you videos too...very quick.

The car looks super quick. I think you might benefit alot from more seat time and maybe some time a good performance driving school (if you want to come down to Northern california, my friend matt is the instructor at the jim russel evo school). Either way you have an awesome platform to learn on.

Just curious- im sure i missed it but what kind of roll bar setup are you running?

Maybe look into a fuel cell, if the expense is not too much for you at the moment and it wont violate any competition class rules that may be imposed on your car. Im curious, where
do you get your carbon from, I apologize if you mentioned it earlier.

Right now it's really not a focused track car - but after this winter it will be. I was driving it to work the entire spring and most of summer. It was just a lot of work swapping out pads and aero parts after each track day. And always fixing broken stuff to keep it on the road.

There is no roll-bar in the car right now. I'm going to be building a 1.5" x .120 wall mild steel cage this winter. I'm still trying to decide how wild to go. If there is a cage in it .....it turns into a track only car. At that point I'm going to have to lighten it up by getting rid of all the extra weight, and fully track car it out. That's a lot of work, but I know I won't be able to just leave it like that.

There are no plans for a fuel cell - I'm not going racing anytime soon, and this isn't a race car. It's a track day/fun car. It's just too fast to not have a roll cage.

Carbon came from http://www.avtcomposites.com/

Tires just showed up. 265/35/18 Toyo R888's. Shaved and then run a little during the Petit Lemans weekend at Road Atlanta in Speed GT. Fresh off the Toyo trailer, $90 per tire (considered full tread - for a scrubbed pro tire).

I feel you about the rollcage issue. I'm torn on what to do with this car. Right now it's only a pad/wheel change away from being a trackday car. But every car I have had on track before this had at least a 4pt bar. I could easily put one it(my car already has baseplates and harness eyebolts installed) but I would be sacrificing the dailyability of it.

What car used the r888's in petit? My roomate drove a c6r there(horrible race..nasty conditions).

Hey mate. Im currently building a track/circuit 2.3L with fully built head + Trust T67 turbo. I was wondering, what did you do for a throttle body + intake manifold??

Feel free to look at my build. Link is in my signature..

I love this build.. I like your front lip.. Im so undesided between running a similar lip, or getting a DoLuck front lip like the FQ400's... Hmmmm...
