Happy New Year, and happy new rear brakes! Since I haven't touched the car in months aside from always having to charge the battery to get it out of the garage I gave it a little attention today. Installed a drivers harness with a current FIA rating to replace my expired Sparco, and then gave the brakes a little upgrade.
I hadn't removed the rear rotors in years, and it took me about five minutes to remember that they require a little help with some extraction screws to get them off. If you try getting them off without that trick you may go insane, or use a hammer way to big!

The good stuff mounted.

Here's a subtle detail to remember. Two piece rotors require brake pads that are clearanced for the mounting hardware on the hub side. In the picture below you will see a new Raybestos ST43 pad for the inside on the left, in the center is the clearanced ST43 for the outside (hub side), and on the right is the Ferodo DS2500 that coming out. Notice the Ferodo is not clearanced at all, and totally interferes if you try and install them.

Also notice that Ferodo uses Alpha Romeo pads for the EVO apparently...

Here you can see the area that needs the clearance.

^ Very good thing to know!! Thank you very much.
Full pad replacement is on the list as soon as my tranny comes in (no, not the surgery, purchasing a whole new unit)

Im using OEM metal gasket and is it serious for little oil leak thru the HG?
The leak is just 1 spot below the intake manifold...

Yeah - gonna go blue when these tires come off, same stuff as the roll bar. Should look pretty killer. The olive drab was a neat idea, but in practice they just end up dirty and turn into a boring flat colored dark shade of blah.
Got all the oilz freshened up for the year. Made the switch from Mobile 1 15W-50 racing to Brad Penn 20W-50. The transmission got new Redline MT90, the rear diff Redline 75W-90 gear oil, and Redline Heavy Weight Shockproof for the transfer case. Man shockproof is such gnarly stuff - bright pink and thick as bugger snot. I got a large helping of it on the garage floor pumping it into the transfer case, it made a wicked pink mess and was tough to wipe up.
Gonna drive the car to Portland tomorrow to empty the tank of gas and put in some e85, might check the tune on the drive home. Should be ready for a track day next week.
I didn't realize this Brad Penn "the green oil" was actually green in color, I thought it was a hippy statement!

Drink up buddy.
