Tsidrift1: Evo IX Project.
I took a look at my catchcan tonight, which has maybe 40miles of use on it so far. I noticed something a little interesting. My main 5/8 hose coming from the valve cover had some white gunk in it. Almost looks like grease. I wonder what would cause this? Then there was some, im guessing water, in the catchcan, hmmmmm?
Wonder if this could tell me anything about the motor and why the rod snapped? With only 40 miles or so that I put on the car since I installed the catchcan, it has me confused.

Just some small updates. I figured while the motor is being built, I got some time to clean some things up and paint some pieces for the motor so it will look new again!
First off, I deleted my power steering cooler. I dont do road racing or anything, maybe a little autox a couple times a year, but nothing that I feel I need the ps cooler, so its gone. Cleans up the bay a little more too!

I wanted to keep my two aem senders up high and easily accessible, so I just mounted both together for easy access. I need to find a longer oil pressure remote line. Jays racing has some longer ones.

Then today, I got some things cleaned up and painted for the motor.
Wrinkle black on the Buschur ported intake. (hard to tell in pic)

Oil filter housing.

e85 makes the cyl walls slippery so the rings cant seal so fuel gets by and it tends to dilute the oil overtime.
Today, my Buschur 2.3 shortblock came in! AS soon as I got home, I started assembling. I forgot to grab the large tq wrench from my father in law to do the headstuds, so that was pretty much my stopping point lol.

My buddy John approves, his car should be next for a built block.

Headgasket and water pipe on, new oem oil pan installed. Just got to the throw the head on and tq headstuds and do timing.

Motor should be in the car tonight or tomorrow. Then waiting on a few other pieces to come in. I leave for Florida on Tuesday for my wedding, so it will be a week from Monday before I get back to it. Should be running by the end of that week though!

Thanks man! Nothing better than a simple wedding on the beach. No formal crap to deal with! haha
Just an oem 9 headgasket with the copper spray.
WHOOO! Its been a long couple of days and nights. I want to try and get the car to the point that all it needs is a starter(which I am still on the hunt for one, if anyone has one for sale!) and fluids put in before I leave early Tuesday morning for Florida. So im hacking away at it. Im off tomorrow as well, so I should get there!
Some new pics!
Head bolted down and tq'd to 90 ft lbs so far. Couldnt go to 110 ft lbs without dragging the engine stand with me haha.

Timing all complete!

Got the motor off the stand and hanging by the hoist. Installed the Exedy triple disc!

Bolted the trans on. Man....this was so much easier to bolt the trans up, out of the car and drop in as one unit. Last year, I put the motor in, then wrestled the trans in the car afterwards. It was a long and tiring day doing it that way last year lol.

Doin work! Getting ready to drop her in. Once again, my buddy John is there to approve of my job. He gave me a hand of course dropping the motor in.

Shes in!! Although putting the trans on outside the car, it made fighting around the tcase that much worse, but after about an hr, a lot of cussing and screaming from me hahahaha, it was in.

I did some re routing with the harness at the intake mani. Makes it look less cluttered without the harness running over the top.

This is tonight, where I called it quits. 5hrs of golf and beer earlier today, wore me out, didnt get as much as I wanted done tonight with the car lol.

Stay tuned for more.
I will be back at it tomorrow. I am gonna mail my fic2150s to FIC to have them flow test them, so that might be something I will be waiting on as well, when I get back from Florida.
