I don't run a knock sensor at all on E85. By the time it would detect anything real it would be much too late and in the meantime they cause all kinds of issues. Some say I am crazy but I never had one on my old Talon because the 2.4l DSM style blocks don't have a boss cast into the block for the knock sensor. Haltech recommends (or used to) not using one. Just make sure you have plenty of octane and tune for power on the Dyno. You can use det cans as well to verify if it is quiet. Then read plugs for signs. Once it is dialed in then your good.

I have heard that you dont see just a little knock on e85, if it knocks, its something to be concerned with right away. Iwouldnt doubt the "knock" my sensor is detecting is probably phantom, but I hate to go full throttle and see my ses light blink at me lol.

Even if I get the knock issue fixed, then I am still facing the issue the car has where its cutting out if I rev it out to the rev limit. The rev limit is set to 8200, if I rev it out to that, the car boggs out into the next gear for a few seconds before curing itself. Also, if you rev it out to the limit, and just let off and let the car come down to idle, the car then idles like a suby for a few seconds and cures itself. Not sure on what that is just yet.

That is almost definitely valve float. The lifter pump up a little and hold the valves open a little. Buy some better springs. They are also a wear item so changing them sometimes is needed.

Its got the gsc beehives in the head, I figured those were good enough for the GSC s2's? Especially since im only revving to 8k.

When I was at Boostin, Devin recommended the supertech high tension dual valve springs. I was looking at those or the Kiggly beehives, but I dont know if the kigglys will be that much better than the GSC beehives?

I ran GSC 5041 with GSC S2 cams and saw no issue. I would run 5041.

Yea, I was looking into those or the kigglys now. Reading some posts earlier today, seems like the gsc 5041 kit or kigglys is the way to go. I'm also gonna pick up that fancy valve spring compressor to make it an easier job lol.

I did a pull tonight coming home from taking the wife out to dinner, no knock light tonight.

Haha, yea, I did them once in my 1g dsm. My valve spring compressor was my brother haha. I'm gonna purchase that tool that was linked on a thread on evom. It's like $100, but well worth it to avoid headaches lol.

Yes the tool from euroexport is awesome. It still takes a LONG TIME. I would also recommend buying some spare keepers. If you drop one and it goes in the oil pan it is a pain in the *** to get out. It won't hurt anything in there and they are cheap!

Note taken batty! I will pick up some spares.

I think I am gonna go with the GSC 5041 kit. Buy the tool to make it easier and some spare keepers.

I am also contemplating switching out my front engine mount from the blox, which i rated at 90, to a megan one, rated at 70.

One, it might help with my phantom knock issues, but two, this car vibrates more than I like right now. With the new Buschur motor, it vibrates a little more than before, and last night on my way home, my dash had a terrble rattle. So Im gonna try to switch that out see if it helps at all.

If I would to do it again, I would pull the head off. Cost of oil, headgasket, coolant is around $100 and it would probably take less time.

Pulling the head is far more work than I wanna do lol. The tool I'm getting allows you to do one whole side without removing the tool. Shouldn't be too bad really. I'll have it done in about 4-5 hrs I figure.

This is the tool im gonna use. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...r-install.html

I'm actually gaining a little bit of excitement for a change in hopes that the springs will fix this sputtering issue, and maybe the slightly softer front mount will help a bit too with the vibrations and maybe even some of the phantom knock issues.
