I asked Aaron for a choppier idle, thats how
Im pretty sure its just MIVEC advance at idle really and controlling the AFR
Is your idle high?? Mines at like 1050ish RPM or so

So last night I was highly motivated and put my turbo setup back together. Went to drop everything into the car, of course everything was in the way of everything else and a simple task of dropping the setup into the car took way longer than it should have.
I began tightening the manifold to the head and I ended up dropping my wrench, it bounced like 3 times and of course ended up falling into my downpipe. And, of course, it isnt reachable by a magnet. So I gave up for the night
Probably gonna take my downpipe off tonight, get my wrench back, and finish it up. Maybe. Hopefully. Probably not tonight.

^I have dropped a keeper in the head before and had to break it all down again to get it, so the wrench in the downpipe sounds Heavenly to me haha.

Oh man that REALLY sucks, I'd be very unhappy if that happened haha.
Of course I had every other possible hole taped up or covered so I didnt lose anything, except the downpipe.

Time for an update.
Car has been back together now for about a week or so. The turbo has been refreshed and is in great working order, and thanks to Bob from MAP for tweeking it a bit to spool up faster
Email tuning is currently underway, I sent Aaron logs last night and I got a new tune earlier today that I also just got back from logging, and I have sent him those logs.
My friend installed my new boost gauge tonight, an Autometer Phantom -30/0/45, and Im disappointed at how dim the LED bulb is that I bought for it. Its nearly impossible to see. I need to find a brighter amber bulb for it. I had a peak/warn Prosport -30/0/30 which I loved, but I needed a higher reading gauge. I asked them a few times if they could make me a gauge with vacuum that read up to 45psi and they said they couldnt
Anyone who comes in the car with me still cant get over how smooth and responsive the car drives. The best part is how violent the car is once it hits full boost. It's a lot of fun and 2nd gear is a bit of a handful, and a 3rd gear is getting to be a bit interesting. I like to stick by the motto that spinnin aint winning, but its fun to break the tires loose in an AWD car once in a while

I'm easily spinning all four in 2nd gear with a measily 425 ft-lbs. I imagine that you'll be able to spin all four in 3rd by the time Aaron is done with your Evo.
Did you track down your oil leak?
If not and you think it's coming from under the lower timing cover...
I had the same problem, slight leak causes it to drip onto the oil filter housing. I noticed this when I was redoing my timing belt. Turned out to be leaking from where the BS belt tensioner was bolted in. I have the OEM delete gear. I grabbed one of the hybrid rubber/brass washers from master gasket kit, fitted it to the bolt, and put the bolt back in its place. No more leak.
Congrats on a great build.

Some interesting numbers I found while looking at one of my logs. I started my 3rd gear WOT pull at 2583 rpm and stopped the pull at just about 8000rpm, this took exactly 5 seconds to run through. My 70-90mph time took a half second (0.5).
A DSM buddy of mine told me they use a formula to find their trap speed, which is 152 - (T * 16.735) = Trap speed where T = 70-90mph time. The number I got from that was 143mph. Granted, for our cars that formula is going to be off a few mph for sure due to the DSM guys gearing being different. I presume with the power the car was making on that pull my potential trap would be around 135ish.
Thats true about the boost gauge for sure, the only reason I really installed it is to glance at it while going thru the tuning process to be sure that boost isnt making huge jumps as I turn the MBC up.
Interesting idea too with the failsafe on the FPR vac line. I loaded in my new tune today, and I only floored it in 3rd for about 2 seconds and the car REALLY felt amazing. 35psi appeared in no time and the torque kick was nuts.
Thanks man. I havent actually pinpointed the leak yet. Its definitely coming out of the lower timing cover, theres oil EVERYWHERE from my oil filter housing, to a few bolts on my oil pan, axle boot (from slinging I assume) my subframe, and onto my exhaust as well. its a pretty big mess on the entire passenger side underneath the car. Hopefully my issue isnt serious and can be easily fixed like yours. I do lose quite a bit more oil than Id like to and have to keep topping it off.

Boost gauges are overratted tools. No time to look at the gauge when a car is making big power. Better to rely on failsafes such as boost cut load. A really nice failsafe that Aaron told me about when I was at English Racing a few days ago is to tie the BOV/DV boost hose into the fpr boost hose, so if the fpr boost hose pops off the fpr, then it instantly opens the DV and kills boost. Very nice failsafe.
