LR 2.4 and MAP EF4 build thread

Woooo at it again. In short, shi*t hit the fan with my previous build and everything went to poo in a matter of 3 weeks of picking it up. No need to go into detail.

It's time to start fresh. I have the help of a really good friend who I trust more than anyone and it's going to be done properly this time. I don't have an ultimate goal really, just some expectations.

The most important part, who's tuning the car? Aaron of English Racing!

Here's the mod list...

Engine and Turbo:
Buschur Long Rod 2.4
ILFR7H Plugs
MAP Ultimate Duty head studs
Fluidampr crank damper
Buschur baffled oil pan
MAP o2 dump housing, coated
ToxicFab tubular manifold

Supporting Mods:
Buschur fuel rail
Buschur 4" Race intercooler with upper and lower pipes
Buschur 65mm throttle body
JMFab mini catch can
STM Valve cover fittings
STM Oil cooler kit
STM 4" SD intake
SpoolinUp COP
Hallman MBC
Buschur Fabricated Intake Manifold
Buschur 3" catless turbo back
Tial Q
Stock ECU on speed density
Buschur Front center member

Drivetrain
Shep Stg2 Transfer Case with Quaife LSD and REM ISF
Exedy Triple SR, now changed to an HR.
Shep transmission with full REM ISF
STM Upper/Lower stainless clutch line
STM Clutch fork stop

Exterior Mods
Pink Streamers

All I'm waiting on is a water pump gasket and a new oil filter housing and the motor will be back together in the next few days now and the car should be running shortly! Its been down now for almost 11 months (full time student and work 50 hrs a week...fail) so I'm very excited to finally drive it again. My turbo just arrived earlier today, Ill post up some pics tomorrow. I'm looking forward to this big time, it's way overdue.

Here's a few shots of the car from last year. I actually dont even have any engine bay shots. Ill be sure to take some once its all back together.

Im not really a Domo nut, but this shot always amuses me.

EvoDan and I on our way out to the Shootout last year

One of my favorite shots of the car just because it captures every line.

That's the same motor build I was going to go with except with an FP black right around last year. Good luck with everything man and I can not wait for the results. Quick question though, is the double pumper better than the Aero or Auto fuel pump in your opinion?

Good luck man. Mine got toasted by some mysterious glass bead after laying down sweet numbers during tuning. It's been down for many sickening months. You should probably expect a little more. Check my numbers in the following thread before the full tunes : https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...torsports.html

Yea I had the FP Black and would have kept it but I figured why not try something new. And yes the Buschur double pumper was proven to be one of the best on the market. It only kicks in the second pump when it is needed too.

Thank you, yea I know why mine went to hell after we took everything apart it all started making sense. When we unwrapped my new motor there was a piece of metal floating around in one of the coolant ports, good thing I heard it rattling when we had the engine on the stand and I was able to fish it out.

WOW bro can't wait to see this thing back up. I was going to go with a 2.4 with 10.5:1 but E85 isn't that readily available around here yet....Well at least not close enough for comfort. Good Luck.

Is this also your dd or weekend car? The reason I ask is if you run your car through winter then I am curious as to how speed density would hold up through the cold weather. Did you consider using the Quartermaster 8-leg clutch?

He bought his Exedy SR (non HD pressure plate) triple before the new Quartermaster came out. It was intended to be a daily driver at the time so the old style QM was out of the question. Now it's become a weekend/fun car as he bought a truck as a daily.

Well originally the plan was to keep it a DD, it always was, but since its been down for so long, I did buy a truck to DD. Now it will just be a fun weekend or nice day car. I wanted to wait for the new QM to come out but decided on the Exedy Triple because of the fact that its a little friendlier for a street car and proven to hold well, and like Mayberry said, the new QM wasnt out at the time I did my first build.

So the motor is now almost completely together, the head is on. Only thing Im waiting on is a new oil filter housing and the cams need to go in and be degreed. Heres a few pics of the turbo and from the assembly last night.
