Phew, having to play with the boost quite a bit. Hitting almost 27psi and I had been tuning for 22. I'll try to get 3rd dialed in for 23 and then start adjusting the others. I was running 11.9-12 AFR. I have it adjusted to 11.5-11.6 now. Lots of popping, too.

I got a few more pulls in. I had been pulling from 2500 this morning. Pulled from 2000 and spiked again, so I'm getting that down. No knock, so that's good. A/F is stable now. 11.3-11.4 at WOT at about 23.5psi. I'll make sure I'm happy and then try to ask for a little more timing. VD showed 272hp uncorrected. That's a little improvement.

I went out to my usual tuning spot and got 2 pulls in. One at 284 and on at 282. I wouldn't have thought it would have made such a difference. Very pleased. I added a little timing when I got back. I'll do some pulls tomorrow and see if it holds. No knock so far. If I can get in the 290s I'll be pretty dang happy! Heck, I'm already happy. Car feels really alive.

Really enjoying the car right now. Good tires and a little more power make a huge difference in my smile when I get to work. I still have a few spots where she gets a little lean. I get some popping at wot, usually if it hits about 11.8. Most of my full boost is 11.5. I'm trying to do pulls in different places from different RPM points to tune it out. Overall, it's awesome.

what do you mean popping under WOT? Is it spark blow out? Ive never had any "popping" under WOT that wasnt spark blow out, which I dont believe is due to AFR.

When you said popping earlier, I thought you were talking about decel.

If it's blowing out, wouldn't it show rich? It could possibly be blow out, but I'm only running around 23psi. Running almost new BR8EIX.

I have a set of BPR8ES, too. I swapped them out for the iridiums because of the poor idle.

Not really getting any idle on decel. I'm sure that'll come with a downpipe, though. I remember that from my Talon.

I believe blow out looks lean in a log, typically looks like knock too.

Lean because the fuel has to burn for the WBO2 to pick it up. Youre seeing a lean spot and thinking that is causing it, when it may actually be the effect not the cause.

What is your plug gap? Hard to gap iridiums. Maybe worth setting the BPR8ES's to .022 and see if it goes away.

I actually didn't gap my iridiums. I didn't want to chance mucking them up.

You may be right. I was thinking that unburnt fuel would get into the exhaust causing it to read rich.

I'll swap in my coppers and give it a chance. It seems to do it more in 2nd gear than anything. Or if I downshift and get right on it.

You were absolutely right. I put my coppers back in (still gapped at .020). No more popping. I'll check the gap on my iridiums.

I had added some timing last night but I think I was heat soaking. I got 2 good pulls in tonight at 99 degrees with 107 IATS. Made 290/27X. I'm stoked. I have one spot where it's getting one count of knock. I may try to add a touch of fuel. I think it's really just the heat, though. The power feels really good. 1-3 are awesome. I haven't messed with 4th or 5th, yet.

I put an extra degree at peak tq, but I didn't get a chance to log it to see if it made any difference, no knock light, though.

Very happy with the performance of the car right now. On a cool day, over 300 easy. Downpipe will have me there for sure!

Outstading read man, thanks for taking the time to document everything!

I think I went through the whole range of emotions following you along on this journey and my fingers nails have surely paid the price. Keep up the good work, really nice to see how far you've come and where it's at now.

Here's the graph. Numbers vary a little. Not 100% sure on the car weight, but it's pretty close. 99 degrees and 107 IAT.

Thanks man!

Really enjoying the car right now. Not many updates. I've been working on other cars trying to make some mod money!

I did order an idle control valve and a throttle body gasket. I'll tackle that as soon as it comes in. Also going to try to replace the motor in my driver's side door lock actuator. Tired of that being a pain.

Got my $22 IACV in and installed. I verified that the old one was kaput, too. No movement when I turned the key while it was plugged in, even after cleaning it out.

New one is in. Car warms up at 3000 rpm now instead of dying and idles at 2000. That's with the BISS screw all the way in. I'm going to drive it for a couple of days and see if it lowers. In SAS mode it idles around 850. Hopefully it'll work, at least a little.
