I randomly decided today to remove my vortex generator. It was on the car when I bought it and in rough shape. Bad call. It was stuck quite well. Pulled a little paint when it came off. I made a few new scratches, too.

I really just wanted to see what it looked like without it. I'll buy a painted one, now.

So, I really like what it looks like without the generator. I may see if I can touch up the paint and make it look better.

ALSO, my $22 IACV is working! I am SO happy about that. My idle actually comes UP when I turn my AC on. Very happy about that.

Got my driver's door lock actuator replaced this weekend, finally. Repaired it using the $9 motor off eBay. First time it's worked since I've owned the car.

Removing the actuator from the door panel was the hardest part. Blindly figuring out what you need to do is rough. Make sure you have the window up and unbolt the rail from the end of the door. Helped a lot.

Old motor out and replaced. Make sure the 2 slots for the tabs face up. I wiped everything down and put new dilectric grease on all the contacts.

2-part black plastic epoxy curing and a zip tie to hold it tight. I removed the zip tie when I put it all back in.

Nice to have some of these little things done. I'm going to order a new vortex generator soon. I like the look without it, but the paint under it just wasn't in good shape. I'm going to go with an OEM "black", not tarmac black.

Hoping to get a keyless fob and a second key ordered and cut soon.

Ordered the vortex generator. Hopefully it'll be here in a week or so. First order from Rexpeed.

VG arrived. Very happy with the quality and the fitment. I ordered in OEM grey.

Really bad pic, and please excuse my filthy car with polish splatter on my rear window.

I'm very happy to have a painted, uncracked VG.

So, being 84 out yesterday after work, I decided to go do a power pull and see how things were doing. I've been adjusting my AFR as the weather has been cooling down, but haven't done a VD graph. I was happy with the results.

I still think there is some timing in there, just need time to play with it.

Trying to wrap up my front suspension. I ordered endlinks and Prothane front swaybar bushings. I'll move on to the back and start putting in some new stuff soon. Already itching for a downpipe.

A forum member was nice enough to give me a really good deal on a used Megan downpipe. I was hoping to save up a bit for the 03-04 V2, but this V1 will be just fine. Needs some TLC and a wideband bung, but that'll be easily remedied. Hopefully I'll have it for the weekend. I'm heading down to Austin in a couple weeks and I'm hoping to do some spirited driving alongside a friend's Z32TT. Pics when it gets here.

Also, after adding some fuel up top and bringing it down to around 11.2-11.3, I was able to get another degree of timing from 6k up. Car is running really well. Why can't we ever be satisfied?

Just read through this whole build thread. Awesome work, man. Lots of time and dedication into this car. Its awesome to see all the hard work really starting to pay off, and the car getting closer and closer to where you want it.

Cold weather and a downpipe are AWESOME.

We dropped to around 40 yesterday. Just in time for my downpipe. Had a bung welded in and had it on the car 45 minutes later. Drove it easy and adjusted fuel a litte. Then it dropped 30 degrees overnight. I was making 305/292 VD before at 23psi (spiking to 25 trailing to 21). I just had a VD pull at noon. 333/343 spiking to 27 (eeep) and holding 25 to 6000, then dropping to 22. That was after several partial pulls to adjust an AFR that had gone too lean for my liking.

I'll try to post up the graph later. I wish it would stay cool year-round.

I said cool, not freakishly cold!

Thanks, man! Trying to enjoy it and not rush out and buy more stuff.
