July 2017 to Feb 2018 : Issues after issues with the build that takes six months to sort out.

Feb 2018 : Finally have the car working great, making great power

March 2018 to June 2018 : Six track days in three months

June 2018 : About 4,000 miles on the new build at this point. Going over the car, prepping for next track, find oil on a plug #3.

June 2018 to Aug 2018 : Car sits in my garage, waiting for the shop to have space to take the car in.

Aug 2018 to Oct 2018: Get jerked around by machine shop about the leaky head. Place blame on me. Hardly communicate. Get head back, car is put back together.

Oct 2018 : Get car back. Put 30 miles on it. #3 plug has oil on it again. Nothing was fixed.

Nov 2018 : Send spare head to new machine shop

Nov 2018 to Dec 2018 : Waiting

What the F is wrong with me? I basically enjoyed the car for three months after it being down for more than 1.5 years. Then it's down again for the last six months.

I must be insane. I'm insane, right? The new Camaro ZL1 1LE is looking might fine right about now. Maybe I will go car shopping in January 2019...
This is the reason why I'm not going to touch the engine or oem tune til the very end or at all...I've done this so many times with my previous cars now I'm to the point where I just want to drive the car. Hopefully you get your evo going soon!

I've got >50k into my fox mustang that hasn't run since 2005. It always seemed like a few more thousand would get me to where I wanted to be, but I haven't really gotten there. It's an expensive time consuming hobby for sure. The people actually competing in motorsport always seem to get priority in the shops too.

I don't know too many major sports that haven't turned into a wallet war. Has allot to do with how disenchanted I have become with them.

Motors seem to be the weak link. Hope the head issue is resolved with the new head.

Still waiting on the head....

Our move to the east coast might happen sooner than expected so.... debating on just putting the car up for sale or transporting it to CBRD and having them put the new head on and then selling the car.

Transport would cost approx $2200. So if I can find somebody that wants it for a decent price before I move I might just unload it.

Anyone want a well built Evo 10 with a CNC ported head ready to bolt on? (Whenever the F I get it)

Could be within the next two to three months.

Don't dump the car. You'll always wonder if that LAST LITTLE thing would make it perfect and be finally DONE.

Or maybe you'll be glad and think "that headache is gone!"....

I know I scoffed at this earlier but hot damn, it's now been over two months since I shipped the head out... this crap is so stupid. I'm probably not even going to get it back before I move cross-country.

It's official. I am moving to the East Coast in three weeks.

Cylinder head still isn't done. I'm likely just going to put the car in storage somewhere over on the east coast and get back to it in six months or so. Have no idea what shop I can even trust over there.

What a total bummer the last seven months have been. I was really hoping to put down a sub 2 min lap time at Thunderhill before I moved but... not going to happen. I know I keep saying it but this industry really freakin' sucks.

Sorry to hear about the head. I had a pretty quick turn around time with curt brown. Any reason you didn’t send it to him or just wanted to stay local in CA?

Should call the shop, repo your head, and send it to head games. No excuse for a cylinder rhead rebuild to take 3+ months. If you're that busy, stop taking in work, or hire more staff.

Aaron actually started being very communicative after finally starting to work on the head, he stated it should be done next week. It's still been three months either way.

That said, Aaron has probably been the best experience of this whole debacle so I'm not calling him out, I'm calling out the overall experience I've had with this car and the industry for the last couple year and particularly the last machine shop that tried to blame everything on me (blamed my breather system even though I have piles of data proving the opposite), wasted my time and in the end didn't fix anything. It's absurd.

I'd also like to add that I've been privileged enough to throw a bunch of money at this car to do it right with all high quality parts and quality labor, so it's not like I'm somebody that can't afford this level and is doing a budget build. I can't imagine how they get treated!

Wow just read all this, sucks man!! Feel for you... I went to Curt brown for my head refresh and he had it back looking new in 2-3 weeks and i was going to have him do a 2.0 build for me but Still up in the air? I’m also on the east coast about an 1.5 drive from CBRD. Good luck with the car.

There's waaaay more reputable evo shops on the East coast/midwest than the West coast.
