The bad news is, the rear diff is toast
Are you sure it's not the TC? Ran into this exact issue with my car, sounded like it was coming from the rear after getting off the dyno. Ended up being my TC.

Regardless, awesome results, a BEAST

Thanks!

You never know, it could be the T-Case. It would be pretty sad since I bought a "so called" built by TRE, 0 miles T-case off a member on here and haven't launched the car once. In fact, the car was driven very conservatively since I installed it and it never made any noise until after the dyno tune. If it does end up being the T-case, I will have to down the car for at least 3 months until I save enough money to send it out for yet another rebuild. Would be a shame if that ends up happening

When your tcase went, did it end up being the ring and pinion or diff?

Just drained the transfer case out of curiosity and found no big chunks of metal or scary left overs. Just fine metal particulate and exactly .63 quarts of Mitsu SAE 90 Diaqueen LSD oil.

Send the diff to TRE, get it taken care of. Those Weir 12 plates aren't that great, they don't last long.

I was definitely thinking about it, right now I'm just trying to be 100% sure it was the rear diff so I have another one on the way. If I install it and the noise is still there, I don't know what I missed

Out of gear, the noise is not there, only when the drivetrain is engaged. I wonder if the diff pinion gear bearing can make such a noise.

That sounds like a rear diff, typically* the tcase will make noise no matter what, while the rear diff is load dependent (whether its accel or decal load). Sometimes gears just get galled and they get noisey, and unless you clean everything really well, and take a good up close look at the pinion, it can be hard to tell.

I hope so my friend, it would be a nice relief this Thanksgiving.

Same exact issue with me on a built TC as well. Ended up being the ring and pinion. Noise was very audible only when drive train engaged, very loud on freeway.

I see. With the car in the air and in gear, I can rotate a front wheel in one direction while the other turns the opposite. I'm thinking this indicates that the diff is still good and that if there is a problem at the TC, it will be the ring and pinion. Fingers are still crossed that it's the rear diff of course

If you put a brand new TRE tcase on the dyno, you may have killed it. He has very stringent brake-in instructions for his gears. No WOT for 500 miles, and the first 100 miles vehicles speeds shouldn't go over 60mph. It's very important to follow this because of how he sets the up, and the shot peening that he does.

That being said, hopefully its just the rear diff.

It should have been fully broken in once it hit the dyno. I broke in the engine, transfer case, and clutch all at the same time. Basically very soft, regular driving for 1000 miles with lots of vacuum pulls and less than 1/4 throttle lol. My God was it boring..

I hope so bro,

On a brighter note, I got to ride in a 650hp GTR last night. It was disgusting! You could almost hear the tarmac screaming for mercy! My friend even used launched control to really kick our asses into the seat It pulls so hard from a dig that you feel the same G's as if it was about to hit it's peak torque from a roll. Yesterday, inertia did not exist!
