well the guy who's wants my car told me he is going to the bank tomorrow to get the loan to buy my car. If everything goes through then I might be buying an evo sometime toward the end of May! I've searched but so far I've only found 2 possibles : 1. private seller selling a BONE STOCK 03 Evo VIII with 57K miles on it for 15,900. 2. private seller selling a modified 03 Evo VIII with about 50K miles on it for 16K. The second guy doesnt have any really extreme modifications to it. Mostly exterior. Can anyone chime in and tell me if going with a stock one would be better?
Going with the stock one make YOU responsible for all the enhancements. That's what I love about my VII. Started from the beginning and watched her grow.
My wife's Evo VIII was already worked on, so it just needs a few tweaks and she's done. Saved me lots of money on upgrades.
Either way seems fine with me! :Mitsu:

yeah i think i might go with the one with mods already. If i dont like some of the mods i figure i can always trade someone for whatever current part is on the car or sell off the parts and switch it to whatever part I want lol....thanks for the advice man. hopefully this guy still has the car in 2-3 weeks.

That is, as long as the cars look about the same as far as how well they look, inside and out.
If the one with more mods look beat up as compared to the one with less parts on it, then you know to stay away from it.

Alex,
I did a few pulls with the Evo today and logged them.
Found that the recent change to warmer weather had changed my peak boost.
I adjusted my boost controller here and there for about an hour, changing the boost, the gain, the WG duty cicles, the rpm's parameters and other values.
The car picked up 20-25 hp, no joke.
It pulls like it did in cooler weather. I am so happy with my tune
.Here is the final test log. Boost and A/F's are flat line.
Peak boost in 3rd gear reached 27.1 for a few rpms. Perfect.

This one is start of hi boost ^

This one is end of pull and still holding same boost ^
Scott did a really good job, as the A/F's are still the same after almost a year and with more than 10K miles on the engine.
--- --- ---
Check your boost and adjust if nescessary
Your A/F's should still be good, but do not forget you added a few parts and summer is here.
Time for your ECU semi anual check up.

If both cars have about the same miles on it, and cost about the same, then the one with the extra hardware is the best buy. That way you do not have to buy those mods.

Yeah I'm going to look at the modded one very closely and I'm also going to ask to have it inspected before I make the purchase final. I'm really leaning toward that one because its around the same price as the stock one and it has less miles on it. Hopefully it will be around in a couple of weeks when i get back from NY so i can go check it out and maybe purchase it.
Thanks for the great advice man !

hey im new to tampa just moved here and i drive a evo 8 with the 9 converson front end. prob dont see me around but whos all going to this fast five meet? i can prob meet up somewhere with you guys
So far, Myself (possibly HerEvo_8 as well), Oximuis (Evo IX SE), and EvoG8r (Evo IX)... not sure who else. Its a Friday night in Wesley Chapel some people are either working that night or resting from a long day of work.
Where/when would you like to meet up...?
i went back a couple pages. im guessing her evo 8 drives the ssl evo 8 with the carbon fiber hood?
well let me know if all these people are going.
My wife's plate and username is HerEvo_8. Same as mine (HisEvo7). Yes, she has the one with all the carbon fiber... No leather, though!
We are going to link up early friday evening and roll out together to Wesley Chapel.
PS... I rolled next to a White Evo X on Dale Mabry yesterday morning. I've actually seen your car in the shop in Orlando. Nice ride!
