Quote: hey everyone here is an update:

We have been testing a group of these turbos.... and the conclusion has been that at high boost and under stress we are seeing a little more bearing wear than what we feel is acceptable.

We are already working on the solution and testing with a revised bearing package and oil supply which will be supplied as part of the turbo... this will be really a no cost increase to the package (maybe 40 dollars, but we will be covering US shipping anyway so its a balance)....

We dont want to ship turbos that arent 100% and I (nor Blouch) are completely satisfied with the analysis of the turbos that have been on test vehicles.

We are having custom fittings machined to run an oil line from the filter housing, much cleaner than what we have seen available now, and a simple installation. We will have a video link on our website that shows the proper way to install the line.

We will also be covering some basics on the installation process that we feel like people over look (priming the turbo, pressure testing etc)

Im sorry that we aren't able to ship them immediately as planned, we just want to assure that you are clients are as happy with the end result as we are.

I will post updates shortly on the new durability testing. Otherwise the compressor and turbine wheel design are unchanged

sincerely

cb

ahhhh...well it looks like my car will be up on jack stands for longer now...haha...
Thanks for the update Chad... So do you think the current bearing would have worked fine with the oil supply coming from the filter housing instead of head?? I can't wait for this turbo to be in my hands!! haha...

Quote: Epic post! Thanks for the info Chad!

Just curious, what's the availability on BBK Full's right now? This just screams to me that the original BBK Full is *the* turbo to get for the CT9A, stock oiling, great response, great power, bad@ss reliability.

Thanks for making a great product!
The delivery time on the full is 2-3 days to ship from order date!!

thanks guys more info coming!

As for the oil supply on the standard bearings..

We felt if we are taking the time to address an issue, let's go the entire way with it. I dont mind absorbing the cost of these solutions because I feel we are doing the right thing for our clients and our long term stability.

We aren't in this business short term, we want to be around for the lifespan of the industry

Thanks Chad for the update! Darn, BBK Full it is for me. Is it still $600 to convert a Full to a "B"?

Good man, it is great to know that a company is not just trying to get a sale an actually cares about the performance and reliably of there product. I was already sold on cbrd and this comment goes to show its the right choice. BTW chad, check your vm and give me a call when you can. I know your busy but want to get you 0.02 on a few things, thank you sir.

It's nice to see a shop DVP&R parts! Testing and validation is a vital part of proper engineering. I look forward to seeing your oil feed line solution.

CBRD FTW! i am actually thinking of letting this turbo hit the streets first and seeing what people are managing with it on pump. i might just order the Full and upgrade later. athough i really didnt want to do that. but if the car can be balanced now with the full and on 93 than when its time i can get the motor and head built and the full can get upgraded to the B and e85 will hopefully be the fuel of choice!

plus i have always wanted the Full so might as well experience the Full first and you cant beat a reliable and strong stock frame turbo!

That's sounds similar to my plan at this point minus the e85 and built motor...haha...hopefully by December or so the BBK-B will be fully tested and there will be 50 or so running around all producing awesome #s...

You guys think a COP set up is needed/worth it for a turbo of this size?

Some will say yes, some will say no...on straight pump gas probably not but if u run e85 or race gas with higher boost I don't see why you wouldn't...I ran a COP on my stock Turbo setup...Craig @ Sparktech is the man...customer service, product & pricing I received from him were top notch...

The Sparktech set up looks sweet but damn, a lot of cash. Can you PM me what you paid for yours so I have a ball park estimate?

Thanks for the kind words everyone, we are working away on it,

trying to have one specific fitting machined for the production lines.

I like what I've seen from the spooln'up kit, worked very well on a car here the other day!
