The advantage of this turbo is that it appears to be a wonderfully exploitable pump gas set-up. Going bigger on the turbo, on pump gas, will not result in any more power. Just more lag. For instance, this set up is making the same power as the tubular header'd GT35R made on the same car (but with a severely upgraded head). Oh yeah, it also makes instant boost whenever your above 3500rpm.

with all the right stuff couldn't you get full boost by 3200-3400? that's the only question i'm asking... and you kinda answered it by saying it makes instant boost over 3500... well isn't that faster than stock (by the definition i gave already)?
if it's gonna boost slower than stock tit for tat whatever the mods then i guess that sucks... but does that put the final number under stock turbo's full boost with nothing changed (3600rpm)?
also... i kinda say this cuz i plugged ams about their turbo for a long time... they said it can make over 400 on pump and spool faster than stock. that is waht i want... any other takers?

... I will leave you guys alone.. After all Shiv did not believe in the WIK nor the 3071 for the longest time
.What’s there to explain the guy put his point in and I agreed with him. A lightly moded 3071 turbo spools better than bone stock EVO (dyno proven). However once parts get added to the stock EVO spools greatly improves..
Nothing to explain but Alex requires so much to explain as he is slow. Good luck with your turbo and your believes.
Alex, I really feel for you bud

Doesn't this turbo push about 50% more air than stock? If that is the case, there is no way it can hit the same boost levels at the same rpm as stock with everything else the same. I think some of the confusion comes from people using the same terminology, but meaining different things.
Question for Shiv or David, At what rpm does the 30XX push more air than stock given stage 1+ mods?

He is stating that a properly modded 3071 will spool faster then a 100% stock Evo, considering how an Evo is stock, why not?
My guess is the 3076R is a better choice, that or the TT kit. You need to get rid of the cat, ESPECAILLY if it is stock, it kills the spool and topend.

The 3071 pushes considerably more air than stock by virtue of it's 71mm compressor wheel. It's big exhaust housing makes sure that it doesn't easily get choked up with backpressure either. The advantage of ball bearing turbos over standard oil bearing turbos is durability and transient boost response. The latter is very different from boost threshold. Transient boost response is the time it for the system to go from one pressure to another pressure (vacuum to boost, boost to higher boost, etc,.). Boost threshold is simply the amount of boost available at given RPM under fixed testing proceedures. Unfortunately, it is boost threshold that most people quote and tout.
It is rare that you will see a ball bearing turbo make full boost signficantly earlier than a compariable non-BB turbo. But what you will see is a near verticle rise in boost once a certain boost level is acheived. It is this that makes a good BB-turbo so responsive on the road. This is not illustrated in an inertial style, low to high RPM dyno pull. You will not overlook it on the street, however.
The 3071 will not spool quicker than the EVO 16G, all things held equal. Much of the advantage the 16G has over the 3071 is the fact that it is twin scroll which help spool up/response in a very big way.

1) you've already threatened me physically
2) you're brother's already lashed out at me in your defense, as if his serving for the army is somehow related to or a defense for your idiocy
3) im still traumatized by 9/11, so i'll leave and your ATP 3071 alone. PM me next week when it spools.
