Area/Radius ratio of the turbine housing. Basically, with the same compressor side, a larger a/r = higher high rpm boost, and less exhaust manifold pressure, while a smaller a/r = lower boost threshold, but the turbo may "run out of steam" so to speak at higher rpms.

Which one is better depends on what you want.

what is the deal on this turbo? seems like a few companies are saying this turbo is an HKS specific turbo. I know that HKS has its own kit out, but they make it seem like it isn't a true Garrett turbo like the 3071/35r, etc.

i know the one Vishnu carries as a different AR, but

the 3037s is the hks spec turbo made by garret... it is similar to the 3076 with a slightly different comp wheel size i think....

All I know is that the 30R IE has in his V stage 3 makes big power and has very acceptable spool. Call it what you want, but I haven't seen a 30r signifcantly outspool it yet AND it made 494whp and 432ftlbs.

The only difference between the HKS GT3037 and the Garrett GT3076R is the turbine housing-- HKS puts their own housings on Garrett's turbo. The HKS housings have a smaller inlet flange (its a T25 flange) while the Garrett housing has a T3 inlet flange.

The genuine Garrett housings are 0.63, 0.82, and 1.06 A/R. Not sure what the HKS housings are, but they're all on their website.

I second that. I drove IE's car, and it is a beast....of course it takes awhile to spool, its a big turbo, but it only takes a bit longer to spool than the stocker, and once it hits, look out.

p.s.-you going to let me drive your car smoggy?
