i'd rather pay more at union mitsu than buy from southcoast. mark may be all smiles and jokes wen u first meet him, hell even try to act as ur friend by buying lunch, but wen u get out of that door. say hello to the real mark. as i'm always tryin to contact him but he never has time as he's always huntin for fresh meat. don't be fooled by those "were losing money on these" prices as they'll kill u on the interest of the loan as the finance dept. will try to add a couple percent on top. he also raped me by charging me over a grand on GAP insurance and also killed me on LOJACK by adding 2000 on top of the purchase price. both of these shouldn't cost you more than a grand and in my opinion are totally useless! don't be fooled by his "top salesman in the country" ad in the filipino newspaper, don't be surprised to hear this but the person who wrote that article is a customer of his so he prob. gave him a huge discount for all that BS you call an article. nyways, i just wanna warn u guys.

Did he put a gun to your head and force you to buy that stuff for those prices? You make it out like you are a victim when all you had to do was get your loan from somewhere else or walk away from the deal.

So, the finance department was trying to make money off you.....big surprise.

They tried to sell you inflated GAP insurance....another big surprise.

What?, Lojack?, hmmm, another dealer inflated option.....great deal at $xxxx.xx?

Did they get you on the fabric protection, undercoating, and the flux capacitor as well?

What did you expect? They sell the car at cost and try to squeeze out a profit on "the other stuff". What dealership in the country doesn't try to do this?

Here was my basic transaction with Mark which took 4-5 phone calls in all over two days, of which I had to call him back on 2 occasions when I left a message and was awaiting a reply;

Mark: How are you going to pay for the vehicle?

Me: I'll place a deposit with my credit card and send you a check for the balance.

Mark: Sounds great, you're not interested in financing?

Me: Only if you can beat X.XX% rate.

Mark: No, we can't. Mitsu has no incentive money for financing; you're better off going with what you have. We offer Lojack as an option for every Evo as it's important to protect your investment.

Me: Thanks for the offer Mark, but I'm not interested in installing Lojack.

Mark: No problem.

Me: Mark, let's review the pricing. The cost of the vehicle is $27,988 plus the $45 doc fee for a total of $28,033; correct.

Mark: Yes, that is correct.

Me: So when you overnight the contract to me, that is the total I will see.

Mark: Yes, Sir, it is.

Me: Excellent! Thanks for making this a very easy transaction!

Mark: It's been my pleasure.

Me: So what's the next step?

Mark: Once I get the paperwork back from you and the check clears, I will be driving your car down to the DAS terminal for shipping, so your car has X miles on the odometer now, and will have XX once it arrives to DAS, as the trip is approximately 26 miles.

Me: I appreciate all the help Mark.

Mark: Thank you for your business.

I've never had a more simple or straight-forward purchase, and this was from 2500 miles away.

Any dealership will "kill you" if you let them.

Not trying to sound harsh, but if you had shopped your financing and GAP insurance before hand, and told them "no thank you" to Lojack, what could Mark or SC say?

Are you agreeing with me? It tough to tell. The incentive says "2005" so I don't know why some people think it's for 2006.

Wow a newbie just join April and trying to bashed the best dealership i ever had, when did you buy the car from them?why did you sign the paperworks?and i dont think that Mark does the financing over there and i know that he is just a salesman that is trying to give us a good deal.and one more thing as far as my knowledge goes the max that they can sell the Gap insurance is $600 i dont get it how can you buy it for higher than that.

south coast mitsubishi is still the best period.keep up the good work SC

I haven't had any problems with Mark either. He's been quite helpful with all my post-sale questions and needs.

LOL! I was going to write about the same thing and as I was typing it, I saw your quote (on another window) and just quoted your reply. I was being lazy and didn't read your post...

to make a long story short...I agree

Mark has been totally honest to me

I bought my IX GG on 3/31 and paid in full and don't have my car until 4/17. He still talks to me. I think I'll be the one to cut the connection once I get my car (too busy driving ).

I had my free oil change done at SC Mitsu the other day and it so happens Mark was around. I got to talk to him for a while and just had a good care free conversation with him. No sales talk crap stuff.

Big thumbs up to Chris at service!

As far as Gap Insurance. If you are not happy with it, I think you can call the company who you bought it from and get a partial refund if you don't want it. Your own car insurance probably offers GAP as well for a much better price.

Most Gap coverage contracts allow 30 days to cancel for a full refund. The dealership I went through wanted $675 for Gap. My credit union only wanted $275. So I was able to cancel with the dealership and go through my C.U. Gap was a no-brainer for me since I hardly put anything down on the loan.

I think by California law you can get a full refind on gap insurance within 30 days, that's what I ended up doing on the last car I bought. Besides, if you're buying a car for 4 grand under MSRP gap coverage doesn't make a lot of sense anyways.
