My exhaust is just way too nice for my car to understand it.
...edited for talking too much
Hey Ben, can you get me any sort of deal on the Greddy Profec B II and MAYBE an S-AFC II (just incase I don't change my mind fast enough to get AL to fit me in as a full custom tune...which I may, or may not do)

Ben
dude if you want sick gain, get the EBC; im running the blitz sbc; very handy and you can map it with a speed map with another Blitz unit (i forgot the namelol) cant go wrong with a dual solenoid
quite a few posts on profec B problems ive read; never owned one. Great raves on the hks unit.

Yeah, that's one of the things, and then there's the climate/altitude change stuff too, the EBC is set to a level of boost, and corrects for altitude and climate changes better than MBCs, but those two things are the extra ~150 bucks... having a dual boost setting would be nice, but there are SOME mbcs that have that too... it'd be nice to have a safe street level (18-20) and then have a race gas level (21-23)... and that's the thing with an S-AFC over the custom tune... I could have a map for 91 octane and a map for ~100 octane and switch between the two as well, plus I can get the S-AFC retuned any time, with little down time... instead of having to mail in if I get a fuel pump, or an intake, etc... What problems have you read on the Profec?
Blitz sbc actually has 4 channels you can switch to....what i meant by dual solenoid is the mechanism which controls the opening of the wastgate actuator; it is dead on ***** acurate....i believe we have a single solenoids for stock.
My friend in Fl (Dr Evo)is running a profec. He found funny overboost conditions when the unit was set on 20psi. Check out these threads:

Oh....from what i know, the Blitz sbc has an automatic and manual boost setting...meaning that the automatic simply sets by entering how many psi you want it to boost; the manual is by entering a boost ratio number and setting a gain number to get lightning fast boost response (of course you cant go too high cause it will interfere with the boost limit)
You also have the option of setting a warning limiter...lets say you set in a limit of 22psi and you go over, you have the option of automatically lowering the boost to any number if you go over that limit (example of 22psi)..plus it buzzes and flashes red too.
Plus you can also display three engine features like knock, voltage, etc.
When I get my car back from the dealer and if your still looking for and EBC, you should check out mine...maybe thatll help you make up your mind.

Yes Ray you are definately a homo, you drive two BMW's, and spend your weekends with guys in your shop, and you are over 28yrs old. You may as well come out while you're still somewhat young, who knows, maybe it will help Scott to show his true colors as well!!!
Jake, I think you may want to consider a few things before you decide to do the SAFCII over the flash. This is just my own opinion based on what I learned about the afc while I had it, so take it as a grain of salt.
*the afc is simply a piggy-back fuel computer, and it has it's down sides. It changes/modifies the signal from the maf-sensor to the ecu making it believe it is seing a different amount of air than it really is thus altering the amount of fuel delivered to the engine. The problem with this method is the ecu in-turn adds/takes away timing in order to "correctly" ignite the fuel that is being delivered. In theory it is almost impossible to achieve the exact desired effect you want when both timing and fuel are changing simultaneously. Zach can probably shed more light on this as well, as he is experiencing it right now. You can overcome this by running an adjustable FPR, and get realistic close to an optimal tune, but in my mind you are simply "tricking" the ECU more than you were to begin with.
I'm currently running a flash on my setup (im in the process of fabbing the rest of my i/c pipe, and waiting on sensors for the AEM), and you wouldn't believe how well it works. I'm not exactly sure what parameters of the stock ecu Al can change, or exactly how it works. The vague idea I have is that it simply allows the ecu to change the limits it would normally allow, such as timing advance, knock thresholds, fuel etc. The advantage is it is a complete package, the ecu still operates by adjusting fuel trims according to driving style and air density, and continues operating in a well engineered closed/open loop fuel cycle. This results in a substantially smoother power delivery, and no annoying crossover points. A realistically funner car to drive.
Sure you can have a race fuel map with the safcII, but I believe that Al has options for that as well. I'd do as much "homework" as you possibly can to decide exactly what will work best for you. For me, an SAFCII will never have a place in any of my vehicles again. I simply was unimpressed by it.
Good choice on the ProfecB-II, I have a few friends who run it, and love it. Anyhow, talk to Zach a bit about the S-AFCII, and ask Al about the race map options. Don't rush into something based on what one person told you, that includes me

I'm not rushing into anything, I'm actually still very much leaning towards the tune by Al... the main problem with it over the S-AFC is future mods, and having to get a reflash... Dun worry, be happy!
jake the only reason i will still use the afc after my tune with al is to tune my own race gas map!!!! the afc just simply is not the best tuning tool, but also for the level of mods you are planning on it works fairly well but injector changes make it very difficult to operate.
Yeah, I've been talking to Al on the sign-up thread... he says running with race gas would be just fine, I was just worried that it would end up messing up the car cuz of the tune for 91, and I'd lose the ability to run 100 octane for safety at a track... We shall see, still probably going for an EBC though... especially since then I can switch the boost easy when I do run 100 octane
I would not waste your money on the Profec B spec II, I had one in my old car and it was the biggest pain/ peice of crap. It only adjusts in % above the wastegate spring pressure. A mbc is just easy to use.
