I'd take the intercooler, if it wasn't 400 dollars at the same time I want cams that are the same price... Call the suby guys from that meet... they thought that it was the leet roxorz.

 

So does any one know if there is a oem boost controller or something like that? IN certain gears at around 55-6600 rpm theres a wierd air/venting sound and the car seems to loose boost a sort of slows a little through the top of the gear, its not a BOV i know that but it seems like its a boost silonoid or something, any one care to help me out?? The car is totaly stock.....and the dealer i bought it from said the first owner had some sort of boost controller put in but for the life of me i cant find one any where on the car!!!

I live in midvale (72nd and 20th E) if any slc evo heads wants to take her for a spin with me and help me figure it out....id be willing to pay for help too.

I'd start with the easy solution and make sure your boost system is nice and tight. Second I'd make sure your boost recirculation valve is ok.

Stock, there is a definate flat spot up top as the turbo is 'told' to stop making power there, but where its starting at 55-6600 rpm that seems a little low. The flat spot seems to start at about 6500rpm on an '03. If I remember, Mitsu programmed the '05s to not drop the boost so they would get higher "horsepower" numbers. So yes, on your '05 you may have a problem.

Other than that, I'm not quite sure if you have enough information to for somebody to say "ah hah!"

me and my buddy just did a full on boost leak test all the way through and she held really nicely....its just a quick little wooosh sound for like a second and then just goes away, it sounds and FEELS like something some where is venting some boost pressure when it builds to a certain point.....very mysterious!!

^^ and by boost recirculation valve you mean Blow off valve right?

 

Maybe the boost solenoid is bad like it was in my car, you should just buy a MBC and boost gauge and set it up that way. Also make sure it isn't an intercooler hose.

 

EVOs have a valve that "blows off" into the intake of the turbo. Typically Blow off valves refer to Vent to Atmosphere (VTA). EVOs are not that way. A stock(ish) EVO setup measures the air before it makes it to the turbo, and in order not to run extremely rich after a throttle lift (plus some other things) they vent the boost to the front of the compressor. Most people refer to this valve as a recirculation valve.

The question of the day is, is the woosh followed by a 1sec. drop in power output?

My car is officially totaled now. I am now waiting for the financial evaluation of my car to get this thing settled and find another car. Not sure if I should just buy Scotts car or an Evo 9 or something completely different, trying to evaluate my options but limited because I do not know what I will be settling for.
