Utah Evos
Hey guys, we decided to throw a "BBQ" this coming Tuesday, the 20th, over at COBB Tuning. We figured, since we are developing performance options for the EVO's, it might be a good idea to have you all over for a friendly get together.
The details so far:
What day - Tuesday the 20th
What time - 6pm
Where: 3362 West 1820 South (COBB Tuning)

Thanks for answering the question Jeremy
I can't find any straight 272s used for sale, that's the main problem, and I'm not about to shell out 700 bucks for a new set. Is HKS the only brand to go with? How are the Helix ones that GruppeS is offering?

If I had a tune without cams to install in my car I would sell you mine. Just not worth the cost to pull them and have the car retuned for what I would be able to get out of them. I am not sure about the helix cams. Maybe you need to be the first person to try them out.
If you can't find the straight 272's a 264/272 mix would probably be ok. It will probably pick up some mid range but not quite as much on the top end as the 272's.

Wasn't the car flashed by Al Jeremy? You should be able to get a reflash for free fyi.
I don't know if I want to be the test car for internals
But the "description" (aka advertisment) for them sounds good. They weigh half of the HKS ones (or stock ones, can't remember) but they're supposedly stronger because of the heat process and because they aren't hollow anymore.

The 272/272 combo did give rise to a bit of idle lope and possible stall just off idle, but if you practice the heel-toe while "stopped" there is really not a problem.
The power benefit of the straight 272s is well worth it.

P.S. Man I hope if I show up in SLC that COBB doesn't shoot me over not getting in my stockish 2003 to them awhile ago. Waaay to much school I was worrying about then.

i may go to this... its pretty close to my work.
I think when HKS was really the only thing out there for the 2003s and 2004s for awhile, the final word on cams was 264/272 if you didn't want to get some cam gears, and 272/272 if you had cams gears and were smart about your settings on them.

We will go until it gets dark, or until all the food is gone. We have a few Best Motoring DVD's for your veiwing pleasure, and some of our engineers can give you guys the low down on what is in development, and what might already be in production

You have far more patience than me Riley, and thank you I'll check into the GSCs, I grew tired of sifting through the crap from searching about 45 minutes ago. I think after the endless amount of crap I went through trying to find my exhaust I finally just gave up on EvoM's search abilities. Its like typing Farm Animals in Google.

afterwards....
