Lancer Engine Damper
That sounds good, let us all know how it feels cause i dont know if i can bear that engine jerk any longer. although its winter and no running the car until maybe spring. i just would like to know its there for when i take my car out of hibernation. whats the price on it also? By the way good job Rob on the project i always new you was going to make it happen.
Excellent work there on the dampener but I have one or two questions and please don't take offense on this... just trying to understand how and why, firstly I see that you have it mounted on the opposite side of were the gearbox and drive side is - I know that on that side there is not much space and clearance over the air box but would the best results be found on that side as it would stop a lot of the torque and lashing that the engine does from this side or is it because the design of the dampener is to only slow it down rather than stopping it ...
chowetime- I am not saying I know the answer, just that with the motor mounts where they are it would be difficult for the drivetrain to twist the motor. With this damper it would stop nearly all of the roll created under hard accel and decel. If you want to stop all engine movement you have to go to harder mounts.

Lancer Engine Damper
My Main Man in Denver, Ralliart50 and I will do a test fit this weekend, as long as it gets above -5F, which it is right now. After that it's more vendor work. Patience!
Chowetime - I haven't posted any pics yet, so you must be thinking of someone else. However, mine is in the same place. It's by far the easiest place to limit engine motion, and D Dan is right in that if you want to totally eliminate engine motion, you have to go to the way hard mounts. I'm thinking that you all don't want the vibration of hard mounts, but would love it if a tangible amount of the engine motion were eliminated. I saw on the dyno one day that engine lash is contributed to by all the engine mounts, so tying down just one won't eminate all engine lash, but certainly should put a significant dent in it.

I have had harder mounts before and did not enjoy them at all ... but yeah Isee what you are saying now that if you remove all movement then general driving will not be as nice etc and the diffulculty of applying a different style is not going to be easy

Ok, Rob and I got the test fit done on the damper. He has to make a few changes to it to make it a perfect fit. He has to extend the bottom bracket and cut off a part of it where it mounts so that you only have to take two of your motor mount bolts out to put it on instead of all three. He also has to re-angle the top bracket so that it is a little more aligned with the bottom one and then notch a small part of it out so that it doesn't block or interfer with the low-side A/C line fitting. Other than those small changes it should be ready to go. Rob will have to give a time frame right now as to when we can expect a final product but I do know that I will be meeting with him for another fit before he starts selling them. I'll keep you all up to date when I hear anything new.
Is this mounting to the motor mount points or the strut tower? I only ask because most of them seem to mount to the strut tower and head. Thanks for being the test mule! That's one of the clearest, most concise reports I've heard from a beta tester!

Dragon -
Although all three engine mounts contribute to engine lash, the passenger side engine mount is by far the easiest place to mount brackets, and what's more the strut tower is right there. Brackets have to be designed and fabricated for both, as well as a link between them that provides anchoring and damping.

Cool. I just wanted to make sure that it really was the engine mount. It sounds like the best place (like you said) after all. It sounds like it'll be in production before too much longer. I can't wait, well okay I can wait untill it's above 40 degrees. Thanks for the update!
