Car and Driver Comparo is out
It's putting down 30 more HP or about the same as a 2007 WRX. Even with the extra HP and the 2.5 L motor (ie. more displacement), I would struggle to get 300 whp out of the stock turbo.

On a good dyno that's about right. On a good dyno (ie. one that accurately portrays how much power you're putting down in a real world situation where there's load applied), an STI or an Evo puts down about 220 whp. Since the Ralliart is rated at 235ish, I figured I'd be nice and just take 40 off the above number. It could dyno as low as 160 whp if the 237 is accurate and the tranny eats up the power. A single number is meaningless unless we have a reference in which to frame it.

You sure throw around a lot of numbers for not actually knowing? No wonder people on the form get so mis-led about 'oh I heard this and that' SO... your saying(which is published fact) that Mitsu rates the engine at 237hp (crank) and your suggesting it will only put 160whp? wow that's some drivetrain loss of 77hp ! get real! Thats about 33% driveline loss! SEE I can through crazy numbers out there to confuse people too! Amby no offence but just because you have 5Billion boasts, I mean posts, doesn't mean you know. Can you just wait till a reputable shop posts the numbers??? THEN for crying out loud BOAST away and I"ll keep my comments to myself about it!

So if a reputable shop posts numbers and they say that the Ralliart puts down 220 WHP, you're going to take that as the golden truth? This is why I hate dyno numbers on forums, so few people actually know what the **** they mean.
Hmmm..really now, I don't know what I'm talking about? So I guess all the local tuners (including Rocket Rally, one the premier rally shops in North America) who have dynoed the STI and *gasp* obtained 220 WHP are wrong? I guess our Subaru club tuner, who has tuned countless number of cars and has a very accurate HP-estimating program (it lines up with most of the local dynos) is also wrong? Subaru rated the 2003-2005 WRX at roughly the same power as the Ralliart and *gasp*, it puts down about 150-160 WHP on a realistic (ie. not ego boosting) dyno. My car puts down about 180 WHP at best. So you honestly think that the Ralliart will put down 200 WHP or more? I'm no math major but something does not make sense. If it puts down 200 WHP on the same dyno where an Evo puts down 220 WHP, it means the Ralliart is essentially the same powerwise as the Evo. Seriously, do some research on AWD cars. They don't boast great dyno numbers unless you use a completely unrealistic dyno (ie. one designed purely to stroke your ego). There's a reason why a 300 WHP Evo is a complete beast while a 300 WHP SRT-4 isn't that big of a deal.

Please don't put words in my mouth! I have not suggested any WHP rating, mearly not believing a 33% drivetrain loss is all I"m getting at. Really if the Evo is at the 220whp mark then surely the RA will be much less. How about this then:
EVO rated 291hp crank
RA rated 237 hp crank
237/291 equals 19% difference
Therefor.... as you say and the shop tested; 220whp less 19% equals 193whp for the RA!
Is this a realistic assumption? There! now I've quoted a number! but how would I or anybody else know without REALLY doing a dyno run. Hang on there Amby someone will do it soon and prove your theory !!
