Since the Ralliart is rated at 235ish, I figured I'd be nice and just take 40 off the above number. It could dyno as low as 160 whp if the 237 is accurate and the tranny eats up the power. A single number is meaningless unless we have a reference in which to frame it.
By the way 40 off is not 160, try 180

GO FISH!

The HP figures for the RA are very predictable from the performance numbers. Dyno numbers are great and all, but ultimately track times are what you should use. That is real world. The RA engine is not underrated. From the several sources that have posted drag numbers, the RA is right were Mitsu puts it 235-240 at the crank. You can argue whp all you want but what does it matter? The car runs what it runs. It isn't going to get any faster by hashing 1000 different dyno runs.

Depending on performance sources, the GSR is showing about 272-285 crank HP based on test numbers. That seems low. Of course those early test would be with the poor tune.

Ok i found it. DSport magazine @ XS Engineering using a Dynamic DTS Dynamometer:
Baseline: 222.1 WHP, 230.3 LB-FT TQ
Eneos Synthetic Oil: 226.5 WHP, 233.8 LB-FT TQ
Sun Auto Hyper Ground Cables: 228.6 WHP, 236.6 LB-FT TQ
Greddy SE Exhaust: 232.3 WHP, 236.8 LB-FT TQ

This might not be amby's almighty Real world dyno but these are the numbers they got. From the picture it looks like the Dyno is outside but they didn't say the temperature.

How on earth do those numbers make sense? There isn't a car in the world that is 97% efficient in turning crank HP into WHP. Those numbers are higher than STI and Evo numbers. Clearly that dyno is extremely high reading.

EVO rated 291hp crank
RA rated 237 hp crank

237/291 equals 19% difference

Therefor.... as you say and the shop tested; 220whp less 19% equals 193whp for the RA!

Is this a realistic assumption? There! now I've quoted a number! but how would I or anybody else know without REALLY doing a dyno run. Hang on there Amby someone will do it soon and prove your theory !!
Why is 33% unrealistic? Think of all the things in a car that sap power. You have the engine itself (accessories), you have the transmission, you have the differentials, you have the tires and of course you have other factors that don't do much, but add like the conversion of power into vibrations.
You're math is off. What's 237x 0.66 (since 66% of the power makes it to the ground)? It's 160ish. What you did didn't actually take into account the starting value but merely used another value and took a percentage of a percentage.

Read the way read the whole post amby! Again someone getting over zealous and jumping to conclusions about the SST, try the MAF sensor! quoting post #20

By the way I just heard the new wrx's only put down 150hp on a dyno! it must be true since I posted in a forum no?

It's amazing what people will believe.

Ok hold on Amby. If u got beef with the numbers talk to XS Engineering and Dynamic Dynos. I understand ur point but I did say this might not be ur almighty 'Real World' dyno but it was outside, for all we know it could've been 40 degrees outside but these are the numbers they got.

Well Amby since you think a single person having an issue (not failure by the way) is a big deal I will offer something a bit more substantial for you. Another 2009 WRX bites the dust. This IS past the sign of things to come as double digit 2009 failures is nothing to dismiss.

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...487482&page=21

Even a video of the issue on a 2009 for your pleasure.

Cue the excuses lol.

HAHA turned out to be a MAF sensor. Nice try anyway.
