Car and Driver Comparo is out
So, with the Zchip results out, it looks like a mildly modded RA is just about even with a stock WRX. Just like I predicted. The Zchip should get a RA down the quarter at about 13.7-13.8 or so. Much better. I bet if they add boost control it will be even better.

i think the 1/4 mile will be not that good since no launch controll. So i think the 1/4 mile will suffer because of that.
BUT on road track or AutoX will be a different story.

Lol, I ****ing knew it! People kept telling me "oh you're just a fanboy" or "we don't know the limits" but I (along with many others) put two and two together and got four. I'm sure someone will say "oh they haven't actually blown the tranny yet so who knows" but come on now, this isn't the first source to put the rating around the 350 ft-lbs mark. Just so people know, that's less than 300 WTQ.
Looks like 265ft/lbs on the dyno is about the max based on the TTP zchip testing. The trans slips at that point. So you can right off any major mods due to trans limitations. They need the 5 speed and then it looks like the RA could be made to be quite a beast.
Also, after about 5400 RPM things really go flat. AMBY called that also.

I know, I believe its 7k off and 0% interest for the 2008 STI's while they last. That's bad timing and still a little too expensive for me though. I would need to pay on my spec another 6 months or so or go to 72-84 months to be doable for me. It's too bad as I'm looking at wrx's for around the same price, but you can get a longer loan period on those and insurance should be cheaper. I prefer the sedan too, but if I were to ever get a hatch, it would probably be the sti...
What can I say, I don't know much but what I do know, I know well. It was pretty obvious when the first reports of overheating/slipping came in that the transmission was going to be a major limitation. It was also pretty obvious from the first reviews and dynos that the turbo used on the Ralliart was small and thus not effective at high RPMs.
HP is a product of torque and RPM. What is the torque at high RPMs? I'm in the same situation as you guys, I have great low-end and midrange power but my top-end sucks. I'm holding plenty of HP up top but that's simply due to the math.
