I've been saying the same thing for a long time.

So, with the Zchip results out, it looks like a mildly modded RA is just about even with a stock WRX. Just like I predicted. The Zchip should get a RA down the quarter at about 13.7-13.8 or so. Much better. I bet if they add boost control it will be even better.

i think the 1/4 mile will be not that good since no launch controll. So i think the 1/4 mile will suffer because of that.
BUT on road track or AutoX will be a different story.

Good point. The extra power would only give it about .5 better at best.

Just so people know, that's less than 300 WTQ.

Looks like 265ft/lbs on the dyno is about the max based on the TTP zchip testing. The trans slips at that point. So you can right off any major mods due to trans limitations. They need the 5 speed and then it looks like the RA could be made to be quite a beast.

Also, after about 5400 RPM things really go flat. AMBY called that also.

What can I say, I don't know much but what I do know, I know well. It was pretty obvious when the first reports of overheating/slipping came in that the transmission was going to be a major limitation. It was also pretty obvious from the first reviews and dynos that the turbo used on the Ralliart was small and thus not effective at high RPMs.

Man, if that is true, I am going to hold out a while. If STI's are that cheap, then Mitsu may follow suit. Hello X.

I know, I believe its 7k off and 0% interest for the 2008 STI's while they last. That's bad timing and still a little too expensive for me though. I would need to pay on my spec another 6 months or so or go to 72-84 months to be doable for me. It's too bad as I'm looking at wrx's for around the same price, but you can get a longer loan period on those and insurance should be cheaper. I prefer the sedan too, but if I were to ever get a hatch, it would probably be the sti...

TTP also stated the max horsepower is now at 6,300rpm. So it's got much better top end now.

That's not that much better top end. What happens after 6300 RPM? What is the torque at those levels?

Stock tapered to 200whp at redline. It now maintains 230+whp to redline. I would say that's a decent improvement. And you do know the RA redlines at 6500 right?

HP is a product of torque and RPM. What is the torque at high RPMs? I'm in the same situation as you guys, I have great low-end and midrange power but my top-end sucks. I'm holding plenty of HP up top but that's simply due to the math.

Take a look at it for yourself.
