Car and Driver Comparo is out
Well the blocks aren't the issue so recycling them won't do anything. What I mean though is that since the recall was due to a manufacturing problem, we may be seeing the tail end of that process.

Scary part is how some of the cars that haven't failed yet respond to additional stresses when modded. I would recommend nobody buy these cars until they show that they have corrected the issues. Also of note many people are complaining of lots of interior rattles especially around the hatch and of course the crappy Subaru paint. It appears the 08+ Subarus aren't nearly as well built at previous Imprezzas.
The 4B11 seems very stout so far with no reported failures from EVO X owners. No known failures of the TC-SST so far either outside of the odd one going into limp mode with is only a protective mode to cool off the transmission. IMO the Ralliart will be mechanically reliable as even though it's AWD system is more complex than the simple setup in the WRX it has been tried and true in the EVO IX. It will probably have interior rattles and paint chipping which seems to be an issue with all car makers these days with the use of hard plastics and environmentally friendly paint procedures which aren't near as durable as the staged painting.
The recall was eight months ago so it's hard to fathom that these failures have anything to do with the recall. They are having manufacturing issues or are having issues with their suppliers because from multiple threads such as this at NASOIC it seems to be problems with bearings or cranks of improper machining tolerances;

Subarus have always had rattles, my car has rattles. The same applies to Mitsubishis (I don't know a single Lancer or Evo owner that doesn't have at least one rattle). The paint is the same as well.

Some of the most reliable engines ever built were flat 4s (Volkswagen bus/beetle).
Also, some of the greatest performance motors ever built have opposing cylinders (Porsche).
My good friend has an 08 wrx. I'll report if any problem pops up. Interior rattles, and mediocre paint is a trait of any econo-box. Out of all the econo cars, the volkswagen golf/jetta is probably the best.

That's exactly what I was thinking, the parts that were in the recall haven't made their way out of the stream yet.

I don't have a single rattle and with winter finally landing in western Canada the paint has been assulted with recent sand truck pebbles, so far no paint issues.
Now you know someone that doesn't.
Your car is brand new, wait 6 months to a year. If a car came off the show room floor with rattles, I'd return it. It took about a year for rattles to develop in both my Lancer and my WRX. With the recent cold snap (-25 to -30), everything makes noise.
All cars rattle and creak. Things settle. Plastic rubs. Plastic gets hot/warps, shrinks, settles, gets pushed, pulled. Rubber deteriorates. Fasteners vibrate loose. That is not a concern. Engines blowing is. Driveline noise is. Paint chips....all cars have paint chips. Maybe because the cars in question sit lower they are more susceptible. Maybe style etc lets them take debris at angles that causes more chipping.
