The blocks are virtually identical from what I can tell. The pistons are different but I believe someone on NASIOC posted the specs and the part numbers for the rest of the block are the same.

Robevo, can you get rid of that link, the stuff at the bottom isn't even close to appropriate.

I did not say I did not like them, I said I would not want them in a DD. The stock RA seats have the lumbar support too high up for them to be good and the side bolsters are also at an odd location. Of course I could just be deformed!

A total of 9 blown motors so far on NASIOC. One guy that blew his got a replacement car, not just engine and 600 miles later....splatted that one.

So 9 out of how many? A few hundred? A few thousand? I think the problem is being vastly over exaggerated. It's still a problem, there's no denying that and Subaru had better get their act together but it's not this brand-wide phenomenon that people make it out to be.

Actually its ten. The one guy blew his twice.

I agree, all makers have blown engines. You put together many thousands of cars with many thousands of parts, and sometimes the odds say there will be a bad one. It just seems like the death count is growing pretty quickly considering the car is out about 3 months now and I don't think there are a ton of them on the road. The dealer by me has sold two. One blew.
