I still don't think the cost argument works. Subaru vehicles are not cheap in comparison to what else is out there. To say that that explains why they are selling well makes no sense to me, especially in a time of economic crisis. Subarus may be good value but they're still not cheap.
Yes but that argument/point is irrelevant. The Ralliart/Evo and the WRX/STI make up a small portion of total Lancer and Impreza sales respectively. If Subaru's sales have increased, it's not because of a sudden jump in WRX and STI sales, it's because of a consistent increase in sales of the entire line or at least an increase in the major player of the line, the NA Impreza. In order for the WRX or STI to account for the increase, its sales would have to increase a ridiculous amount which is unlikely. Moreover this performance argument is somewhat silly anyways. If the increase in Subaru sales is because of their performance, it either means that their performance is very good or that their competitors have poor performance. If the Impreza is as ugly as people make it out to be, it's performance must be extremely good if people are still willing to buy it over other cars. If the Ralliart consistently ranks below the supposedly hideous WRX, what does that say about it? Imagine this situation, you and your friend go to a bar and meet three beautiful women. All three women decide that they'd rather have sex with your friend than you even though he is ugly as sin. You chalk this up to the fact he has a big *****. This leads to a few potential inferences, which I'll list.
A. He's not that ugly.
B. He is ugly but he is just so well endowed that it more than makes up for it.
C. You're so poorly endowed that they'd rather have sex with an ugly guy than deal with you.
No matter what the explanation, you're still going home to a computer screen while he's going home with three beautiful women.

Yes and I stand by that statement, if you compare an AWD Subaru to an AWD other car, they're about the same.

That's why we look at objective qualities but unfortunately people don't like that here because in an objective sense the Ralliart gets its *** kicked.
You clearly missed the point of my example, at the end of the day the guy is still going home to have sex with three girls while you're going home to watch crappy internet ****.

Ya maybe in a straight line its slow, but it does slalom better and has a damn near G as WRX that wont even be noticable. I would laugh my *** off if Mitsu did the same thing Subbie did and upgrade the RA just to bust the 2009 WRXs *** but that is unlikely.

Using different tires isn't a fair comparison since it means that in order to get the same performance on your Ralliart as in the review you need to go and spend 1000$ on new rubber. 1000$ can buy a lot, you could easily upgrade the other cars nicely with 1000$.
I'm looking at the Car and Driver review right now (I have the paper copy) and according to them, the Ralliart comes in dead last for the skid pad and slalom. It edges out the Civic SI for 6th place (out of 7) in the braking test by 1 foot. It's the heaviest in the group as well.
