Why are Mitsus so expensive??? If the Hyundai Genesis turbo can be $18K, how can the bloody Lancer ES be the same damn price?????????? And to take it further, how the hell does the ES come with an optional moonroof, and the RA doesn't?????????????? No sense is made in this world of cars.

Two different markets, u can do the same comparison with a Civic LX but u wont really cross shop the two. Genesis coupe Vs. Mustang V6 then now u can compare. I;m sure Mitsu will offer the sunroof option on the RA later on because it's been shown in reviews and also in early pictures but i think they might have wanted to keep cost low due to the terrible economic year. Mitsu offer the sunroof as a package on all cars and we already complain about the price so imagine it with the sunroof $31,000+. We'll just hear more complaints and ppl sayin "I can do without the sunroof, but i do want the RF system though ."

That's my point exactly. How many cars are in the Genesis' market? Not many, thus it should yield a higher price. There are tons of cars in the Lancer ES market, thus higher competition, lower price.

The Genesis, if it IS introduced well under $20K, Honda Fit $$$, that will be ridiculous. I'd have to buy one JUST to buy one cuz it's so darn cheap! lol

It all comes back to the kind of market its meant for. It doesn't matter if it has 3 competitors or 10. Price is based on features of that particular market and production of that vehicle (materials, labor, etc) and sometime brand (BMW, Honda, etc). Hyundai is known to have inexpensive vehicles but they may not have the same quality as their competition. Their cars have come a long way and they are definately not sh*tty anymore but the low price might come at the expense of somthin else.

If ur in the market for a performance car ur not goin to look at a Lancer ES. Especially considering the Genesis is a coupe. Most ppl who look @ a 2 door car don't bother lookin at sedans because that is not what they want. Would u buy a 2010 Camaro SS over an Evo/STI jus because it is about the same price? Not really because u have two totally different cars.

A Honda Fit can cost as much as a Civic Si if u option it right but the ppl who shop for the Fit will buy it fully loaded rather than buy a Civic for about the same price.

The base 2.0 Hyundai will probably be more close to 20k or just above. I agree though, at those prices, they are a steal. Hyundai actually ranks high on JDPOWER, they just suffer from first impressions. With the 10/100 warranty, or in OHIO I can get 20/200 I don;t see how you can go wrong.

No Hyundai suffers because they sold crap cars for two decades, and only recently brought their cars up to the main market level of reliability.

Nothing new -- Nissan, aka Datsun, was so embarrassed by quality issues that they changed their brand name thirty years ago. Toyota managed to survive lesser issues but kept their brand name. However, even the worst Datsuns weren't as bad as the worst of the Hyundais (aka high-and-dry's, because that's where they left you).

The weirdest brand has got to be Volkswagen, which has been selling a high proportion of lemons for more than half a century but still continues to sucker people into equating them with quality... by virtue of being German, as if nothing made in Germany has ever been junk

Yes its goin to be a very inexpensive car for what u get but like i said it would be at the expense of something. But we wouldn't know what for sure until the official specs have been released. They rank high in JD Power for customer service and sales not build quality.

I am not trying to defend Hyundai here but I thought this was interesting. It is consumer reports so take it for what its worth.

I was suckered into buying the MKV GTI when it came out in 2006. DSG, hid's, awesome seats and the best steering wheel evar, relatively fast, excellent gas mileage, good sound...but then it became very clear, very quick, that I had purchased a VW.

I agree with this article. The Genesis is an amazing step up when u think about Hyundai. I had a chance to look at it at the Miami car show and compared it to BMW, Lexus and Mercedez and it is on par if not above in quality. But it doesn't account for the rest of the line up. The Genesis though is a phenominal car especially for that price. I really wouldn't mind owning one.

Nice. Even Ford is gettin in the twin clutch transmission. I beleive this will be the new era. The conventional auto tranny is goin to be obsolete, CVT's and twin clutches are goin to replace it.
