OK.. you OWE $8k on the BMW: (-$8000)
The car is worth $5k: (+$5000)

So you trade it in and get +$5000. Now you apply that $5k towards the $8k you owe. The $5k is GONE. You OWE $3k on the BMW: (-$3000)

Now you have $3000 that you OWE. The $5000 is GONE in order to turn the $8000 owed into $3000 owed. (This step is very important for the next step)

So that $3000 is added to cost of RA. Now that the $5k that your bmw was worth has gone into reducing the $8k down to $3k, where are you going to get another $5k to subtract from the cost of the RA?

That's double-dipping. (And not in the good pick up 2 drunk co-eds at 3am kind of way)

Not sure Sun and Sound is available on the RA in the U.S. I'd be happily corrected on this one though. Especially if it carries over to the 2010 sportback ra.

Sticking with my 2004.

yeh they love to tack on fees to bring the price back on.. i avoid all thet BS by saying "i want it for x price out the door!" that way they have to do the math in reverse to get all those fees in there and you have no surprises.. My BMW was 11K sticker.. I said i will pay you 10K OTD they said deal...lol that simple..

Im coming from a 323i BMW with a slow 179 hp I6 engine that is supper smooth and reliable..

The ralliart looks great in person much better than any pic i have seen. pictures just cannot capture this car right at all..lol

So i do the walk around look in trunk engine bay etc. then he say hop in lets go see what it does.. i put it in drive and pressed the accelerator and damn the car jumped forward cause i did not know that it does not need to be pressed as had as my BMW teh throttle response was instant and strong very lively. So on some back roads it gets to 45 real quick with a nice sound then breaks well ... On the freeway i did not ever hit 4K rpms lol but the car was at 85 MPH too damn fast for me.. Smooth strong acceleration that kept pulling.. So then we excited and did the hairpin off ramp thing.. I took it at 65 mph and the car was planted and stable

Im sold .. i feel that the ralli art is perfect for me looks great performance is more than i need but not more than i can handle.. and its affordable..
I didn't have a BMW to compare the driving experience but I will second your experience when test driving this car. I did have a person who owns a BMW tell me how impressed he was with the smoothness of the car while he rode in the back seat.

I traded in my trusty '98 Honda Accord Coupe V6 EX with it's leather, sun roof and 200 horses. The only things I miss are the luxuries of that car nothing like opening the roof on a sunny day and having that warm sunlight spill in. Now instead of looking up at the sunny sky sitting on the nice leather seats , I have my eyes glued to the road ahead looking for a nice bend or two to open up the RA on . I look for an excuse to take a long ride to the grocery store even it's just for two things.

I considered a Honda Civic Si before the RA, but I just didn't get the nice road feedback . Test driving a Legacy GT seemed a little too subtle and I was looking for something more interesting. I wanted something easy to drive daily but with good power and handling when you want it but not over done or overpriced.

I'm in agreement with ExcessLancer, the RA hits the sweet spot.
