ETA on Turbo? Car has been down for 2.5 months due to engine rebuild. Rebuild is now complete and only thing left is this turbo that is holding me back. I save on labor and cost of a retune if i do it now. If i do BBK Full now instead, I would have to pay an extra $599+ to convert, labor on putting in the turbo, and retune if i wanted a BBK-B later. I would save a good $600.

Chad/CBRD please update this thread.

+1, BTW I thought the conversion was $599, is it only $300?

I'll share since CBRD isnt , i sent an email a while ago to check on progress this was nearly 2 weeks ago ,
His reply was the wheels were being machined and that it would be a couple weeks , he made it sound like as soon as the wheels were recieved it would be a matter of days before the turbos would be ready to ship.
He couldnt give a specific timetable because they couldnt give the machine shop a deadline to have the work finished by as the tolerances are too exact and the work to high of quality to rush it .
I can try and find an exact quote in my email delete box but thats the sum of 3 emails back and forth.

^^ Yes I believe this is the case as well. I know Chad wanted to make sure everything was all good and that the test units were performing as he wanted them too before having a large, I imaging very expensive, batch of wheels made. If the wheels are getting made now I don't think it will be too much longer.

Just gonna throw this out there guys. The BBK Full was an absolutely amazing turbo for a street driven evo and I would not hesitate to recommend it to absolutely anyone looking to upgrade their stock turbo. You can make killer power with it and it is still uber responsive, what more can you ask for? If you're in a spot waiting for a -B I would say just get the BBK Full and be done with it, I promise you will be 110% happy!

As far as those who keep bumping this thread, I'd recommend just giving chad a call, you may find you want the BBK Full over the -B anyways

On alky, I hung with an R1 that had a passenger. Does that put it in perspective? With a set of GSC S2's and good headwork you'll be looking at a great setup for top-end power on a very conservatively sized turbo!

If this is the route people want to go it is a good one, however, if you want more top end without head work and runny alky or meth, the B might be a good trade off for a little less bottom end and transient response. Both have their pros and cons. I personally only want to run 93. Some may or may not agree.

i too have no plans on alky/meth and only plan on using 93oct for now. i may look into e85 eventually maybe when it becames readly available but for now i willonlybe using 93oct. plus i eventually want to rebuild the motor to include the head. so i will be planning on building the motor around the BBK-B.

hey everyone here is an update:

We have been testing a group of these turbos.... and the conclusion has been that at high boost and under stress we are seeing a little more bearing wear than what we feel is acceptable.

We are already working on the solution and testing with a revised bearing package and oil supply which will be supplied as part of the turbo... this will be really a no cost increase to the package (maybe 40 dollars, but we will be covering US shipping anyway so its a balance)....

We dont want to ship turbos that arent 100% and I (nor Blouch) are completely satisfied with the analysis of the turbos that have been on test vehicles.

We are having custom fittings machined to run an oil line from the filter housing, much cleaner than what we have seen available now, and a simple installation. We will have a video link on our website that shows the proper way to install the line.

We will also be covering some basics on the installation process that we feel like people over look (priming the turbo, pressure testing etc)

Im sorry that we aren't able to ship them immediately as planned, we just want to assure that you are clients are as happy with the end result as we are.

I will post updates shortly on the new durability testing. Otherwise the compressor and turbine wheel design are unchanged

sincerely

Epic post! Thanks for the info Chad!

Just curious, what's the availability on BBK Full's right now? This just screams to me that the original BBK Full is *the* turbo to get for the CT9A, stock oiling, great response, great power, bad@ss reliability.

Thanks for making a great product!

Chad,
I think you're doing the right thing here.

Making sure your products perform the way they should without detrimental effects on themselves and on the consumer is te correct way to handle the situation. I would be pissed if I got my turbo, pushed it to 30psi on e85 and then 1 year down the road, or 6 months down the road it blew because of premature bearing wear. Especially if the solution is simply an upgraded oil line which you folks will be including.

Keep doing what you're doing. In the end we appreciate it.

-Jalal
