Hey 8Downunder - don't want to cause any agro out there - just trying to share some info - couldn't agree more that you can do whatever you want with the car, yep it's your car.
Actually with regards to lowering springs, despite what some say I will be fitting the Eibachs to the car, the EVO looks so much better slightly lower.
Anyone got more on THX1138's MoTec comment?

There is a website around somewhere that was done by an ex franchisee of Pedder's showing how dodgey they are.
Tein do certainly just do springs. See the Gruppe-S website. They do it for WRX's so I don't see why they wouldn't for EVO's.

Dad just rang the dealership and apparently they are not getting any Evolution VIII's in white so if he wants one he has to wait until September
. I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't get 1 in white.

The review is good for us who have got one on order! YAY!!
I thought that official figures were conservative!! I also think that the car is actually lighter than what it states. It is the same weight as the UK spec. But there is one big difference with the cars. UK - 6 speed box, Aus 5 speed box.
The 5 speed is 6.5kg lighter than the 6 speed!
I don't think that our AUS spec cars have had official times and weights taken, just borrowed from the UK cars.
Interesting it said that the tyres are the Yokohamas. Which I am happy with. If these are the same as the rest of EVO world sales, they are better than the Bridgestone Potenzas. IMHO when I had my Subaru, it was the first thing to go! I didn't like the lack of grip on the Potenzas and so decided to trash them at the track instead and bought Yokos.
No cruise control!! Indicator on the left side!!! ARGGGHHHHH
Just another set of annoyances!! I know that all european cars have their stalks on the left (as I just got back fom UK and driving Focus') it took a while change over each way. I don't really want to have to re-think every time I change cars (lancers at that). I may have to it changed in my car. Also I would really like Cruise control, i mean the cheaper STI gets it standard.
The review on the gearbox affirms my opinions, that the EVO 5 speed is a better box. We'd all love changing through 6 gears, but the 5 is stronger and has a better feel than the EVO and STI 6 speeds.
Stereo - gah!!!! $63k car, and another crappy stereo! You go and look at the great system the 350Z has (BOSE compete with amp), now that's worth its money.
So, the Perth guys up for some group buying?
Stereo - at least a deck that matches the EVO red-backlighting
Defi- D-Gauge Boost Gauge (black face, red/orange dials)
I am also still interested in what accessories we can get. IE, alum pedals, gauage cluster, rear-strut bar, etc...
I am going to see if my dealer's service dept can sort these out themselves if the deal directly wont.
Soon, my precious!!!!

Evo8Downunder,
You may be interested in the below write up on the EVO VIII prepared from Whiteline. I am involved with the amature competeive scene in Perth and so get some propaganda emails from my contacts for time to time.
I am sure that the car uses Coil-overs to achieve its low and firm ride. But please reconsider going straight into Pedders Lowered Springs...
You mentioned that the WRX and STI use them on standard shocks with no adverse effects. But unfortunately they do. The ride is compromised. It is very easy to spot the difference. It is very spongey and the shocks die out quicker. (Although it is a good way to convince the Mrs that the car needs new shocks or Coil-overs)
I agree, the car does sit too high, but once I have driven it around for a month and settled the suspension in I am going down my workshop and getting the gurus there to do some calculations on the rates. It may be worth the wait and save to get to coil-overs in. At the very least consider King Springs or Eibach. If can get away with it in short term I will just lower the car as well, but will do a bit more research first. Put simply Pedders are not the best option IMHO.
The words from SPESHAL should also be heeded as he used to have arguably the lowest Jap car I have ever seen.
Go well

"We're so pleased about this we just wanted to tell everyone one we knew.
Just this last weekend, Martin Notaras and his Whiteline prepared Mitsubishi EVO VIII took out 1st place outright in the 2004 NSW Dutton Rally ( see http://www.duttonrally.com/index_nsw.php ). Martin and his co-driver Simon Arthur also won the driver and co-driver championship along with nearly 50% of all events and stages!
It was a fantastic result for all of us and we'd like to again congratulate Martin and Simon on their outstanding effort and giving us the opportunity to be a part of their dream. The Whiteline EVO VIII was up against the creme of performance road cars including Porsche (over 20 including GT2's and GT3's), Lamborghini Gallardo, 350Z's, BMW M3's and many others including WRX's, STi's and Skylines. In this company it was hard to stay at the top in the big power events but Martin and Simon won enough of the spring and circuit stages to still win outright by a clear margin.
You can read more about the car and Whiteline's prep work at the project car page here http://www.whiteline.com.au/Project/EVO_VII/default.htm . We will soon be updating this page with more details including times and results but in the meantime you can get the latest from the Dutton rally site. The event was also filmed by several TV crews and will be featured on the Fox network and SBS Speedweek in a couple of weeks."

So very sorry to hear about your car! A company that takes your deposit should do so so much more before taking it!
If you ever come to Perth, I'd be happy to give you a ride in the Yellow beast.
I hope things work out for you

Welcome back THX.
Now a few articles have stated the following accessories:
BBS gold 17-inch alloys, brake cooling fins, a rear strut brace, upgraded suspension pack, coloured alloy pedals, scuff plates and more.
But heard nothing from the dealer!

That list above, I want them all except for the rims!! mmmmmm, we should get onto this! The suspension pack would be a very good option indeed.

Dan I have heard Whiteline are developing some Group 4 coil overs for the EVO. That might be a go, but at about $4k they would be expensive, but certainly worth it.
I have some waiting to go on the WRX
I would imagine the upgrade kits from Mitsubishi would be terribly over-priced for what they are.
