Hmm Alcohol

How would this work road racing? I assume you would go through it much faster than 1 gallon per 2 tanks when always on the boost?

I wouldn't be using it for more power but as a cost savings (Boost=19psi). Race gas runs $5 a gallon. Full tank is $55

Pump 91 (Ca) is $2.00 a gallon. Full tank is $22. That's a $33 savings per tank. If it was 1 gallon per tank for the alcohol, then that would be a $22 savings per tank. Since I go through 2-3 tank fulls in a full day of track time that $44-66 savings per track event.

Now if it only lasts 30min on full boost, its a different story. Running out would be very bad news.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but even using a small nozzle (0.8mm), as long as you're using the stock IC sprayer reservoir, the water will not last a full session. I can drain the reservoir in about 12-15 minutes of high rpm, high boost water/meth injection.

If you take the time to take the Buschur kit a few steps further, you will have a viable option. I would NOT recommend it for road race use as long as it uses the IC spray reservoir.

Yes, it would last for one full tank on street use, only getting into the boost occasionally, but on a road course, where you're WOT and at high rpm all the time, you need more capacity.

Our dyno work refutes that estimation - all dynoing is at full throttle

Most customers are not willing to add a fuel tank for alcohol in the trunk

Ever dyno a car at continuous WOT for 30 minutes?

FWIW, I'm not contesting your tuning, only the original poster's concern with utilizing an alcohol injection kit on a road race car with only a gallon reservoir. At best, he'll run out of fluid, at worst, he'll shut the track down while the crew picks up bits and pieces of his motor if he's tuned for the alcohol.

What capacity do you recommend for road racing? A extra fuel cell carrying a few gallons?

The gas tank is 12 gallons or so

There is one gallon plus in the intercooler sprayer

I predict that our kit will last a full tank of gas on a road racing track

In order to verfify this of course a test is in order - I will test it out

Would starvation be a problem under high cornering loads?

For a 30 minute session, depending upon horsepower (let's estimate 400 at the motor), you would need 2 gallons. I didn't calculate that, just going off my experience with a 0.8mm nozzle and a 100psi pump using the stock IC sprayer tank. Filled to the brim, it would last about 15 minutes, tops. I say try fitting a "drag racing" fuel cell with an alky bladder in the IC sprayer location.

Yes, without a surge tank, you will probably be sucking air on high cornering loads towards the end of a session.

Al, let me know when you plan on testing it out. This I have to see.

Maybe if you let it go down below when the red light comes on

It depends on the individual customers

Many of the tunes will run fine withot the alcohol - some will not

The main thing is to watch for the red light to come of for low level - and always keep an eye on the yellow light to make sure it IS comming on when you are boosting - that tells you you are making pressure in the line

SCDA's hosting a day at the end of March, check out SCDA1.com.

Good to see you're finally putting that car to good use!
