This wouldn't be a multiple user name, my name is Robert... I've been on these threads since 03', Adam is a very good tuner, and a great personal friend of mine, i'm part of the reason he got an evo. He just doesn't have his stock rom to refer to, as his car was originally tuned by a local shop. After getting word from cosworth that their cams were designed around the stock mivec map, he wants to source what it looked like stock as he only has had a modified map to begin with. He's doing alot of testing on mivec as well guys... Granted this might be the wrong thread to ask for the stock mivec map, but you guys could just post it up instead of acting like he's some noob that doesn't know what he's talking about. Spread the knowledge guys, isn't that what these threads are all about? I'm glad i have a VIII, cuz this mivec tuning seems very complex and i respect all of you guys out there trying to improve upon it.
The BC 272 for the IX are only 6* larger than stock cams (intake only, exhaust is listed as the same) with no noticeable difference in ramp rates. They do not generate any more power than stock and has been noted they seem to lose power everywhere.
The rotating assemblies have a horrid RS ratio and side load like a ****. If you want a 2.4, buy a 4G64 and an eagle crank and do it the way it should be, not a stroked 63.
MIVEC is math, everything there is know on stock cams has most likely already been tried, and I would venture to say most of the aftermarket cams have been thoroughly tested as well.

He may be a very good tuner, but he definitely didn't have much of a clue about MIVEC when he started posting in this forum a few weeks ago. Normally, that's no big deal. People in this forum are generally very helpful and easy going, but he came charging out of the gate acting as if he had discovered some secret to tuning MIVEC. In other forums, someone might be able to get away with something like that, but in this forum where most everyone is pretty darn knowledgeable, there's no getting away with an attitude like that. Keep in mind too that everyone has been reasonably polite to him even though he's been pretty cocky and unknowledgeable at the same time.
And you say I didnt have a clue? dude, some of the **** I said, I misworded. Ya, the only way I can discuss Mivec with people is mainly on this forum, so yes, I ask questions, say what I think might be true, but I always say, "correct my if im wrong". I learn personally about Mivec through road tuning. Which can be hard to test because I'm using load to figure out loss/gain differences. But I have found out better combo's that work better with my setup at least, and another evo IX w/ the same basic setup.
I didnt come charging out of the gate against anyone personally. I just through out some ideas that I wanted to discuss man. And when I asked if someone could post a stock Mivec map, I didnt think I would get so much attitude and be looked down upon cuz I didnt have one? How ridiculous is that. Come on, I wouldnt have asked for the stock map, if I had one available. Since this is the Mivec forum, I figured this was probably a good place to start and ask for something, that was the main subject of this forum...
And Brian, no, I havent tuned any IX's that havent had the ECU previously altered. I have re-tuned shop tuned evo's and resulted in more reliable power. I know my ****. And Im not trying to say you, or anyother person here doesn't. Lighten up a bit...
Dude, seriously, How was I being cocky? I didnt say I knew how to do anything better than anyone else. I didnt act like I had made some crazy discoveries or anything like that man. Sorry if I stepped up and said something that I was thinking. In no way did I try and make any drama or anything like that. You guys seem to act like your supreme to anyone else who doesnt know as much as you.

Also, I havent really even been around that much lately, but I have notice a couple of your comments and they are cocky, filled with attitude and very unknowledgeable.
This isnt your normal forum. check yourself.
Dude, if you aint seen a stock MIVEC map, your ARE NOT A TUNER. You may have tuned other cars, but obviously not Evo's.

Its hard to say what kind of emotion is being implemented through a posts.. but go ahead and asume..
And Brian, by saying I know my ****, doesnt mean Im cocky.. And look what I said right after that.. I know that I dont know everything like you and alot of the guys on this forum, but I do know how to tune an Evo. Stating that fact is not cocky, but i guess I should re-word my statements.. But, I'm sorry if I ever did say something stupid, or uneducated, but Im still learning, just like alot of you..

I have the cosworth M3s and if I have a dilemma in building my MIVEC map. For low load of let's say between 100 to 120, if I advance MIVEC fully to 28.8*, I can only get away with 18* of actual timing. If I advance MIVEC by only 20.4*, I can get away with 23* of actual timing. Which is the better option since I cannot advance one without reducing the other? Do I retard MIVEC to get more timing or retard timing to get more MIVEC? From the seat of my pants, it seems like more MIVEC and less timing makes the car more responsive than the other way round.
Even if there's no knock, the actual timing is always lower than what I specified in my timing maps. My timing/fuel maps are set the same.

I just read through this thread and wanted to say thanks for the great info here. I really appreciate the work some of you guys have put into figuring out how to tune MIVEC and for sharing! I'll definitely be putting this info to good use on my own Evo.
I'm pretty dumb to ecuflash or any kind of tuning, but i got my IX RS stock and put TBE, IC pipes and Intake. But I keep boosting 25psi+ and it doesn't seem like its running right when I get that high. There could be a chance my ECU was messed with so should I find a stock IX rom and flash mine? And where would I find one? Also my 2 step won't kick in and the stationary rev limiter is set at 5500 RPMs. I'm not very knowledgeable on this stuff so try not to blast me too hard.
