well, I haven't done a boost leak test yet, its on my list of things to do.

When I installed the sensor I didn't actually hook it up or flash the ecu for it for a few days, and I didn't notice it at that point....I may plug the stock one back up and flash the ecu back and see how it reacts.

How is the logging formula 0.19347*x-b derived? I am curious to know how 0.19347 was calculated.

Sorry for not reading all the pages ....

I want to wire my Zeitronix 3.5 bar MAP to my ecu (and not a JDM MAP).
But I suppose I must alters the maps given in post #1 as the sensor is different.

Does anyone try this and make this work with another sensor, what calibration did you use ?

Question

mrfred, could you confirm that the difference between two MAP sensors (no matters if it's JDM, GM, Zeitronix ...) is in the scaling and values you give in your first post ? (ie MAP test 1, 2 and 3; EGR map offset table 1 and 2; EGR pressure diff).

If I'm right, please could you explain how to find these values for another sensor, I'll try to do the job if it's possible.

The appropriate value to use in the tables depends on the relationship between pressure and voltage for the MAP sensor. Most of the values that I provide for the JDM Evo 9 MAP sensor will get the job done for almost any MAP sensor, but some values will need to change to successfully use other sensors. I can try to work out formulas for those values. It will be a little while though. I've got two big projects I need to finish.

I understand you can't do all the people want

That's why I ask for further explanations about the values we need, then I think I can do the job and post the values for Zeitronix (as I got one at home).

MrFred and I were working on the scaling for the zeitronix map sensor and we felt it needed greater resolution (16 bit rather than 8 bit) since zeitronix's sensor has a smaller voltage range (something like .5v to 4.5v).

mrfred,

Has anyone given any thought to using one of the unused inputs to the ECU to wire in an independent barometer sensor. This would be a engine bay sensor, not in the intake tract. The input could be read and a snippet of code for the output of the JDM Map sensor modded to use the actual baro then. This would give a better estimate of boost at different elevations. I know when I log baro it changes drastically in a pull, IIRC the sensor is in the MAF, correct? So not usable for that.

Additionally, has the use for the present baro been found? I mean in terms of what calculations it is used in. It seems to me that Mitsu would reference it and use the value to either switch or interpolate between fuel and timing maps, given a certain temp, for different altitudes.

BTW the gear dependent boost is very nice, finally implemented it. When you use that, should you also be modding Table 2 from the WGDCC interval mod ? Does the cross over value point the algorithm to either tables depending on rpm/mph ?

Lastly There appear to be only 2 WGDCC tables, but Mitsu looks like it does things in threes, is it possible that a third WGDCC table exists?

Thanks for your thoughts and consideration, Mychailo

Another whole hearted thank you to mrfred for figuring this out and sharing! I just got around to replacing my MAP sensor yesterday and got everything setup without any problems.

^^^ X2 Thanks so much for the well written instructions. Finally installed this as well. Works perfectly.

I can also confirm that it's pretty accurate,or the aem tru boost is accurate. Whichever
They both match each other within a .1 range. Very nice ;-) Very happy

Nothing special needs to be done if its a USDM car. Install the MAP sensor, and you'll be able to log boost in EvoScan.

How do you flash stock ECU w/JDM MAP on a Evo 8 MR. Don't know if the JDM came stock on this MAP sensor, this car was purchased used and was on AEM but now going back to stock ECU just to get emmision test.

Car will not make boost and its probably wasn't flashed with this sensor.

Thanks guys, I ask on this thread cause all the gurus are on it.
