Honestly, I want to think that the knock filters may have been modified but this doesn't seem to be the case.

This is exactly what I'm thinking. I'm currently running about 10* at 7000 rpm with an afr somewhere around 10-11:1 (no wideband yet), and if I lean it by 0.3, the car knocks. And this is with a slightly modded motor. The only other variable not discussed that perhaps could explain the lack of knock with travman's setup is MIVEC. Would be interesting to see his MIVEC MAP.

Just as a general comment, 12:1 seems very lean to me. I were going to attempt that afr, I would approach it very cautiously starting with convervative timing and boost.

Well me and dudical26 went out last night and did some tuning. We straightened up the a/f we pulled out a good amount of fuel. Only pulling fuel netted us 6 more DLL horsepower and 9 tourqe so that is a very good start allready the car feels a lot better. We are going to play with timing next and try some things with the mivec map and see what we can do. The car was previously tuned by an unnamed "block tuner" and after seeing those logs i dont know if i will be a returning customer.

I'm tuning for a 12:1 AFR as well. I did 6 consecutive pulls with a really lean spool up (13:1), lean peak load (12.5:1) and a lean run to redline (12:1). Timing @ peak torque is 4-5 and timing @ 7krpm is 13-14. I get 1-2 counts of knock sporadically. Other than that its great. Of course, the water/meth helps.

This shows the 6 consecutive runs:

This shows the 6th run up close:

Yeah Matt, those graphs look good. Running that lean with meth is common and proven to make power. I'm pretty sure the big debate in this thread doesn't involve meth though.
