ok so i am thinking of going to v7 on my 96940011 ROM. I know I have to change the Rom but have a few questions.

Right now my car is basically stock except for the Forced performance HTA71 cartridge and I added the OMNIPOWER 4 bar MAP sensor.

So which ROM is best for me ?

Option 2 94170715 (v7 + Mods Omni 4 Bar MAP)

Option 1 96530706 (v7)

or

Option 2 - Thanks to l2r99gst 96532706 (v7 + Live Map + MAF)

I have been looking at them in ECU flash and the first one 94170715 does not have the MAP scaling table that i had to add to use my OP 4 bar map.

Also do i need to add the 4 bar map tables to the other ROMS?

Also my immobilizer code on my stock ROM is HEX 2401 can I add this to the new v7 ROM i choose or use the one mentioned in the ROM of choice. its confusing because of this comment in the thread for v7:

Set Immob. HEX to 0x0040 (check to make sure your old ROM was the same)

So do i set it to 0040 or my stock HEX of 2401?

Also when switching my timing and fuel maps to the big maps do I just copy and paste up to the loads i have listed? i see there is a big maps converter But I have not looked at it yet. I assume you use that and then copy and paste the results of the converter?

thanks for any answers .

EDIT: BIG MAP TRANSLATOR link is not working, is there a new link?

Athanasios

I just installed v7 on my evo 8 my car starts up and runs just fine but it idles really rich for a few minutes then it goes to the normal 14.7. It will also randomly go rich when cruising then go back to normal. I am running an omni 4 bar speed density set up with a gm ait sensor. I transferred all of my tables so im not sure why its going rich. any help would be great.

***EDIT ok so after messing with it for a little bit it seems on the v7 map my fuel trims bounce around a little more than my old map but they are still within 10% and on the v7 map I keep throwing a p0134 code (bank 1 sensor 1 no activity)

I feel REALLY dumb asking this but I have to...

So, after "COPY THIS ENTIRE FILE INTO YOUR ECUFLASH DIRECTORY" is completed then what?

i have a question about the conversion from 94170008... more so exactly how do i got about doing this... all the posts i'm reading say to convert to 94170015... i did that and when i tried to open the modified BIN file i get an unreadable error code in ECU flash.

Sorry I'm kind of a noob... I've watched the tutorials and was able to upgrade to V4 with no issues but that was on 94170008...do i just download the "stock" 94170715 file on page one... copy the .xml information and paste it over the entire directory file for rom i.d. 94170015.. I assume from there i would just copy my table information from my 94170008 ROM file to the new modified ROM.... which brings me to my next question..... The imobilizer code? Which do i use? The one from my 9417008?

ok so i was able to patch tephra v7 onto the ROM 96530706... now my question is how do i convert my 94170008 to 96530706? do i just copy all my values from the fuel... timing... etc maps and go with the immobilizer codes from my 0008 maps? also what do i do about the MUT table values.... do i use the ones from 0008 or stick with 0706 values?

I have the same questions! When I upgraded from the stock 2003 EVO8 ROM (94170008) to the Tephra V7 ROM (94170715) what other tables do I copy besides the immobilizer code? it drives around fine but when i do WOT it hits fuel cut or something weird im not sure what its doing. Thanks for your help!

Start by copying your high & low octane fuel and ignition maps, your injector size scaling, immobilizer and your WGDC tables (if you're using ECU controlled boost). At the *very least* that's what you need to copy. I think if you drive around on the tephra default fuel & ignition maps you have a very good chance of destroying something.

Tephramod uses big maps so you will probably need to convert your existing maps, and the bigmap translator will help with that but don't blindly copy & paste the values.

Do NOT copy the MUT tables from your old to the new ROM. They are supposed to be different with each ROM.

Thanks for the quick reply "dparrish"! I will use the bigmap translator and convert the high/low octane fuel and ignition maps. The injector scaling and immobilizer were already the same values..... and I have a MBC so I guess the WGDC tables wouldnt be a big deal... I will post after testing out the new fuel and ignition maps. Hopefully that cures my problem! Thanks again

edit: After making the bigmap conversion, I copied over the Fuel and Ignition maps (high and low for both) and the only one that turned pink (pink indicates a change in the map) was the high octane fuel map which was strange. I havent flashed it yet, but Im assuming that the other maps were exactly the same so they didnt change... I guess will flash it and see if that fixes my high boosting problem. Thanks

The fuel & ignition tables won't have much effect on your boosting problem, I'm assuming you are running higher than normal boost? What boost are you running?

It's a little odd if you're running high boost with a stock fuel & ignition map and stock injectors but you can do whatever you want I suppose, but I'd really suggest checking for a boost leak ASAP.

If it's all good do a couple of logging runs, 3rd gear pull from around 2000rpm to almost redline and see what your 1byte load level is reaching. You could be hitting your load limit, which you can increase with the "Fuel Cut Load x1" and "Fuel Cut Load x2" tables. Check the "Fuel Cut Multiplier" table to see which table you need to edit.

There is also a "Boost Cut Load" table, but I don't think that will do anything with a MBC.

Curious to know how you go with this. Mine randomly goes rich on cruise out of no where.. But mine will do it for a period of time until the car is restarted...

Thanks for the info, I think stock boost is 19psi for the EVO8? Im only running 20psi with the MBC so its not really "high boost". I translated the high octane fuel map over from the stock ROM to the Tephra v7 ROM and it runs a lot better now under load... Im going to do a 3rd gear log today with the new ROM and post it to see what you guys think.

Im trying to use the microSD card to log runs with the Openport 2.0, but for some reason it is not showing up with 1byte load, but if i use my laptop I can just select 1byte load to log it... Does anyone know the code to use for the "logcfg.txt" file for 1byte load?

Also one last question... I wired my wideband data logging output wire to the rear O2 sensor wire on my ECU and it shows when logging as the rear O2, but it only shows up as a voltage from 0-5V... how do I convert that to show A/F ratios instead of volts in the "logcfg.txt" file or in the EvoScan software? Sorry for all the questions, im still new to the tuning world and am trying to learn day by day.

Some help please.

Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Cannot get tables to display.

I downloaded 96530706-TephraMod-V7.zip.
Extracted into
C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\mitsubishi\evo
I have this as Metadata Directory.

Read ROM and saved it to ROM file directory.

see post # 1005

thanks

Figured it out with some help from Kevin @ Tactrix.

C:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\MyDefinitions
in MyDefinitions put mitsubishi and read templates folders
within this folder keep my xml definitions only.

Set this folder as Metedata Directory in ECUFlash

Also, thanks dparrish for all your help, stand up guy.
