I had the same issue.

Thought it was b/c I had an older version installed prior to installing the new one.

I closed the program, opened it again and it didn't have the error anymore.

I un-installed the older version first.

I recommend this.

I always uninstall the old version, then install the new version.

I get a series of 3 pop-up errors when i try to close the program (and occasionally throughout using it). none inhibit the ability to use it or it running, just an annoyance. they read...

failed saving graphsettings.xml:
access to the path 'C:\..................'
graphsettings.xml' is denied

also get two more for
columnames and profiles (replaces graphsettings.xml)

probably something dumb on my part that i havnt setup yet. if so, can someone point me in the right direction? i tried the older version on my tuning logs and I like the program a lot.. its easy to use and appearingly accurate. simple to load car info, and easy to navigate.
sooo..... i just downloaded the updated version! good job on the badass program

Did you uninstall before installing the new version?

from 3 to e: your problem is a permission issue. Make sure you are installing this under an account (user) that is an administrator.

to answer both questions, yes i always un-install old versions first. also, the laptop im on only has one user, so i am the admin. if your positive its an admin issue, ill double check my settings.. im not ruling it out.

it works fine, i just have to close out 3-4 pop-ups when i load logs and close the program.

to work around the permission issue (can't access the xml files) do the following:
- Remove the shortcut to VirtualDyno on your desktop.
- Open windows explorer, browse to the Virtual Dyno program folder (i.e. C:\Program Files (x86)\Pnuema Productions\Virtual Dyno), right click on the executable file "Virtual Dyno.exe" and send to desktop.
- To run as Administrator, right click on the newly created Virtual Dyno shortcut and select run as "Administrator". You can also config such that run as Administrator will be default.

Hope it help. Maybe the setup file for Virtual Dyno needs to modify to address this permission issue on Vista and Windows 7.

On the other note; great software. Will donate upon my next pay check.

I dont get any of those options when making the setup file. It installs and requires admin access. Its as simple of an installer as can be made. I couldnt even modify it to have admin settings if I wanted to without a login on the machine. So if anyone knows how to do this please enlighten me but I think its an issue of just not enough admin rights to start with. Thats why I say you need to BE an admin on your machine. I cant see all these people not being admins on their own machines. I have even switched from a .NET installer to Install Shield as the installer to see if it helped any. No change. So if anyone has an idea on how to fix this please let me know.

try Inno Setup at http://www.jrsoftware.org/. It's script based but very powerful and free.
