I am told only the 9s are getting flagged for ECU conflicts. I haven't looked for myself, though.

Changing the Immob code and hex don't affect CVN1 for 96940011. You can even run the recompile force pass settings without affecting the CVN1. Try them, try them and you may!

I suspect you can even do this on the 9 using 88590015/6. @Kaj you should try it and get the 9er's out of trouble.

Does anyone have a stock copy or know of a link to one for 96940011? The only copies I've found online do not have the right CVN so I don't think they are stock.

9 ROMs have to be 100% stock. Nothing changed. Cannot be forced to pass.

Changing the IMMO code doesn't change the CVN, however disabling the IMMO altogether by changing the hex WILL change the CVN. The IMMO must be enabled to pass smog and if you don't know the IMMO code you're SOL. This was my dilemma last year smogging my 9 and was able to find a dealership that was able to reflash the ECU with a new IMMO code and all. Most dealerships don't know how to do this and will simply try to sell you a new ECU for $1,200.

So I happen to have a couple stock roms that I collected from other 2005 Evo VIIIs and guess what the CVN is different for each one. I am not sure why the CVN is different. I do change the immobilizer code before I load it in because I am afraid if I dont load in the correct immobilizer the key wont be recognized and then the electrical ignition wont turn on the power.

I know the roms are unmodified except for the immobilizer so I might just set the monitors and get it smogged to see what happens.

This one is the rom taken from the wiki.

So after reading through all this thread, does anybody knows what year Evo's does this actually affect? Some say the 2005 9's but nothing for the 2003-4 because the ecu didn't collect enough data or something.

Please someone chime in on this. My smog is due in Oct. Don't want to revert back if I don't have too. If it does......then my 2003 Evo 8 will become my weekend N.A.S.A. race car.

2003-2004 report CVN just like 2005+

So all North American Evos.

CARB was just doing a "test phase" for this before. Come Monday, they are all in.

Somewhat on topic: Has anyone been able to get the mitsubishi flashing tools to work? I paid the 20 bucks to get access, but couldn't make it work with my openport 2.0. According to their site it should https://www.tactrix.com/index.php?op...2534&Itemid=41 . So if anyone has gotten it to work, could you share your setup?

This means we need to find a way to send the data that "they want to see" when it calls for a calibration number.

lets see... from the numbers they provide... they expect to find 5-10 vehicles per day that have "modified" tunes.
so thats (high side)... 200 vehicles per month.

and they state they check 1 million per month.

so they expect to get a .02% failure rate for tune

what a bunch of morons... and waste of money.
