I did a full build on a customers car (Engine, head, clutch, fuel system, etc etc). He went with an EF2.

I must say this turbo is definitely badass even on 93oct. We got to 480whp no problem and the car is pretty quick and very responsive.

Thread is here https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...-s3-93oct.html

And heres the final graph & video:

My personal thoughts on the EF2: For anyone looking for a pretty decent small turbo that makes power its not a bad choice. I driven this car now for the past few days and have tested it quite a bit to make sure its ok for my customer. Its very snappy and has enough power to get you in trouble.

It was at 18* though, which is some cold, great boosting weather. Temps during your tuning were in the 80s, which is pretty hot, comparably.

Plus, 4 more psi of boost up top. And of course, the way better cams.

it may have even been warmer than 80s? i don't think we've tuned since summer. better cams. mmmmmmm. but hey.. at least my bottom end is forged now.. so that's one less worry
my logs show 30psi, i thought. what a difference a bit of lift and duration can make.

It was between 80-100*. I was being conservative.

And we did about 29psi, but it tapered to 24-25ish up top. Least on the Virtual dyno I have for your E85 tune.

sounds about right... living in the desert LOL. not bad for 25psi, then! by the way, the engine is mostly together and we have an event in March. i'll have to schedule a day with ya to get 'er done.

Colder air helps quite a bit. For every 1F its basically 1WHP. It was also holding 28psi to redline.

The power didnt come as easy as you think

Quick video of 1-4 no lift shifting. Shifting at 8k except for the 1-2 I grabbed it early. Because I'm used to the car, I didn't realize how fast it actually is until I watched this video... I am running through gears pretty fast, and it pulls out to the top of 4th in a hurry nuts!!!

ok I know I'm bumping an old thread here.

I bought an EF4 around Aug. last year. I was finally able it on the car and tow it to TPG to have my car tuned.

We can not seem to get the car to make any power. We did boost leak test (none), compression test(140 in all 4 cyl), and a leak down test. All perfect

Car is an 03 evo 8 full bolt ons, Muse 02 dump, s3's, speed density, ect. FIC 1150, wally 255

After trouble shooting all day the car made 362 w/ 29ish lbs of boost. It does not sound like the wastegate is opening properly. (when the car is in boost we are not hearing it out of the dump)

The other issue is if we added any ignition timing the car would pick up some knock

We're going to drain the gas and try a new batch of 93, if that doesn't do it then they are going to swap the turbo with something they have there.

Any one have any suggestions?

I called MAP and they immediately opened a warranty claim (awesome since I physically bought the turbo so long ago) At the same time it makes me somewhat uneasy.
I also noticed today that the EF series stuff is off of their website all together

Someone from MAP is supposed to call me back tomorrow so we can go over some possibilities.

I bought an EF4 around last year for my X and it self destructed within 1-2 pulls within installation. It was replaced under warranty twice (thanks MAP awesome customer service) and I always ended up with the same result, turbo completely failed within 1-2 pulls. MAP finally agreed to replace it with another turbo and I went ahead with a GTX3582 and has been trouble free since.

I am an international customer, and if it wasn't for MAPs awesome customer service, I would've ended up in the dispute section.
