Bummer, was hoping for some more updates on this turbo from you. Are you still gonna run the HTA71 on the new block?

Have been kicking it around. Not 100% certain yet. Most likely going to be switching to a GT37 set up now.....Loved the 71hta... a lot. Turbo is amazing but not for the faint of heart on a stock block. Makes big power and down low torque.

@Ratsbud. Yep. #1 Went through the block on the downstroke. I have a little bit of deburring that will need done to the head. Outside of that the head survived amazingly enough. Block is toast though.

That being said - if anyone wants to purcahse a nice stock frame set up let me know.

71HTA, FP 25lb wasetgate, FP84 Cover, FP84 Intake and New K&N, MAP 3" O2 Eliminator Downpipe and new FP oil feed line let me know. $1700 takes it all.

wow that sucks that it let go, what was the amount of boost? Were you using a boost controller or ECU boost? I have had a feeling lately that this little turbo would be too much "punch" for the stock block when abused.

30lbs third gear WOT at 6500 rpms. Rod snapped in two. Not rod bolt failure. This is a 500whp turbo on E85 with good cams and a dump. It absolutely ripped compared to the nine turbo.

Im sure you can limit the tq with no problem and keep it stock block friendly.

Mine hit a peak tq of 430lb/ft on dynojet VDR. Timing was very conservative as was AFR. Its just one of those things. Sometimes they go sometimes they dont. It was super about 20 degrees cooler out the night it went vs. tune night. So possible that the power levels went up and that is what did it. The car was breaking tires loose in third gear roll just before it blew.

I was ~15 within that torque when I turned the boost up to 30-31-32 on pump. I didnt spend much time tuning timing just making sure it was safe for spikes sake. You were on E85, so i suspect that you had a lot more torque there!

My gsc s2's will be here tomorrow. Install, wrap up brake mods and do a little extra stuff. I will be back at it!

Excited to see you pick up where I left off on this turbo. The owner of Strictly Modified picked up this turbo from me for his girlfriends evo 9. They all loved the little thing. Super impressed with its output.

I am hoping my new set up will be done soon. Buschur Stage 3 motor, STM PT6266 FF Set Up on AEM. Should be fun. :-)
