I also checked block with flat edge. Found center to be 0.0025 low. But this could be caused by old gasket gunk on either side on flat edge.
update: scraped more of old gasket off and remeasured with shorter flat edge and 0.002" Wouldn't go through

I'm thinking to fill radiator to water and run engine through 3-5 heat cycles and change oil and drain water to fill with coolant. I'll retorque head at same time.
Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks in advance.
Sorry this advise would have been more useful pre-cleaning, but maybe good for next time. What i usually do to keep debris out of holes is roll a paper shop towel (The blue paper towels) into a tight little cylinder and shove it into the hole. Then it will expand and kind of just stay stuck in there and keep the junk out.

I was afraid that a piece would fall in. Decided not to do that. Block has many little ports and half of them have burrs (from factory decking?) that could fall in. I pulled gently on a few of the thinner burrs and they seem solid, so I left them. I'll make sure machine shop remove these on my builds.
Maybe I'll try flushing coolant system by using garden hose at thermostat with radiator drain plug open once engine is assembled. And flush engine with oil in head drains and oil drain plug out before installing valve cover. Has anyone tried this before?

I forget. Is the block still in the car you just had the new head worked on. Or you pulled the whole thing?

Either way I've used the blue shop towels and the 3M painters tape. I should own stock with how much I by that stuff for work. Works nicely and no residue.

Here is head coming back from an expensive vacation. Got the best massages around and super spa treatment!!
Look how jealous Mr. Block is!!!!

All Mr. Block got was a dentist cleaning, shave, and an alcohol wash.
Please don't be jealous. You will get super spa and implant treatment soon. Show me you're healthy and work hard for a few years so I can save up for the best implants possible for your special vacation!

Head & block will need to learn to love each other. Dr. ARP L19 is helping them find their passion for each other again!

Hi Joe, don't jinx me
I'm keeping my fingers and eyes crossed for great results as it is.

I haven't forgotten about you. I'll bring my stethoscope to listen to your car's heartbeat soon.

I tried flushing with old oil by draining 500 mile Royal Purple oil into clean pan, pump opposite end of pan to allow particals to settle, and poured it in drains in head. Probably flushed 2 gallons worth before wasting the oil. Got lots of old gasket bits in pan, so it actually worked

Made good progress today. Got fuel injectors and rail in. Need to set timing tomorrow, then bolt on exhaust manifold, intake pipes, and battery.
Only drawback today is that I broke the turbo oil banjo bolt. So I'll just go ahead and install oil line from oil filter housing and plug the oil port in head.
If anyone needs help with injector clips, this is what I do to get it on in less than a minute per connector. It really is cake.

Almost there!!

For insurance, I left the pistons 90° before TDC so my valves can't touch my pistons.
