yep, you dont want cast iron calipers. one of the lightest and cheapest calipers you can use are the ones from the C4 or C5 corvette. You guys are crazy. If you are drag racing, I'd just pull the stock bars off for free and be done with it.
I picked up the Ralliart aluminum front bar for $150 and thought that was almost too much for the cost/benefit ratio. I think it's 3 pounds.
