Shiv, the best chance you have at having some "quiet time" tuning it would be if you showed up early on the Friday of the SMART seminar and tinkered with it then on Chris and Alfred's dyno.
Good idea!! If Atlalet doesn't mind, we could even use his car as the demo car during the SMART/Tuning seminar. I think a lot of the attendants would be interested in learning what is involved with mapping a new setup from scratch with the new adaptive features.

Cheers,

Here is the plan...for now...if the dyno day ends up being the 23rd/24th I'd drop my car off a week early at TT (16th or 17th). Since I'm getting a bunch of new stuff installed, TT can give my car the once over (check for boost leaks, maybe crush my JDM MR BOV with those 27 psi spikes, etc.) Then I would pick up the next weekend (30th).

Shiv, of course you can use my car as a learning tool. No problemo. I'll actually be up in San Fran next weekend (the 4th), but I won't have any parts on. It's all getting done over the next couple of weeks (thanks for the injectors Smoggie ).

New clutch and headstuds go on this week compliments of RRE. WR should be here tomorrow (some kind of train delay, so says UPS). And so on...

Anyway, regardless if I'm there or not, it's going to be a blast. Tom, I'll PM you my number if you or Shiv need to contact me.

I was just looking at the fact that your going to run a MR BOV, for some reason I dont think that thing is going to hold 27 pounds of boost. I have read that its good for maybe 23, but nothing above that. You might have to do a thread search to find out because that BOV might compromise your entire tune...

I boost tested my MR BOV and it held 24psi! I dont know how much more its going to hold though. But it held 24 like a rock! Doesnt mean it wont leak at 25 though

Zeus was right on the money about the oil return line gaskets. I tore mine at the oil pan and had to make a new one with gasket material, not the optimal fix but one that works. You should absolutely get the studs, nuts, and those gaskets. Some folks get the little crush washers too, I reused mine. I still contend that re-using the stock manifold to turbo and turbo to O2 housing gaskets are probably better than the ones that are included in the kits. Just my opinion.

Thanks. When I ordered the WR, I was told that I needed nothing in the way of gaskets, etc., but thanks to your advice I just ordered studs, etc. Only problem is that they are a special order for the dealer and there's a decent chance that I may not get them in time to install the turbo next weekend.

Was that a crushed MR or regular. Honestly, I'm not that concerned with the 27 psi. I mean, I don't know if it's possible to hit that safely w/ 91 octane anyway. If I run the rabbit at 25psi on 100 I think that will be good enough. Remember, I'm willing to sacrifice some horsepower for keeping a stock appearance. THis turbo will be powerful enough. I don't need to beat Z0-6's anyways. Maybe just scare 'em a little

Besides, this car will be more than enough for me to handle. I need to learn how to drive it better next. That's where all my future mod money will be going. That, and tires and brakepads

^^^^On 91 octane you are going to hit 22 to 23 PSI, but it will taper down. However, on 100 octane you will easily see 26 to 28 PSI because I am currently hitting that kind of boost with my stock turbo w/ a 10.5 hotside...

I would have just invested my money on either a greddy type s or a forge BOV. Anyways, its your money that your spending on the tune, whether boost holds or not...

THe question for me is (i could do a search, but I'm busy @ work) how much boost crushed 1G BOVs hold. I would assume the JDM MR valve is similar.

Nobody knows what a JDM MR valve will hold. Not even the people selling them.
