burning a qt every thousand miles is considered standard/acceptable by the automobile industry, not just mitsu...probably just to cover their asses, but you're **** out of luck if your car is burning less than that amount.

I gave my evo a hard break-in and it burns a little less than a quart every 4500 miles or so....not too bad in my book.

Well I tried the turning of the dip stick, as suggested, and the level was perfect. You spin it 180 degress and its down a quart, not quite sure but I like that rather than having a brand new car burning or losing oil. Thanks guys for your thoughts

No I didn't mean down a whole quart, I just meant mine was lower with the dipstick turned one way.

If anything, being so easy on the car may cause oil consumption in my experience. car only had 10 miles on it from the dealer. 1 quart of oil consumed per 1,000 miles is considered acceptable by mitsu service dept. So unless you're burning more than this and aren't leaking, they're not going to do a damn thing for you.
I didn't say it based on a car and drive quote -- I said it based the impression I've gotten from cruising around this forum. Your personal experience has obviously been different than mine, but that doesn't mean jack until more people talk about it.

Anyone else care to share their experiences?
